Hi all!

I'm totally torn about what to ask my husband for when my 30th rolls around. He has been asking as it's coming soon (May) but I just can't make up my mind! I've been wanting to upgrade my solitaire, but due to getting a new car next year, that's kinda unwise. Our budget is around $10k. What I normally wear: an Invicta rose gold face angel watch and a string of pearls from my grandmother.

Items I've thought about:

marquise eternity ring from Leon ($8k ish)
rose gold rolex or similar watch (I also like the ladies' president with emeralds, my birthstone)
Pear diamond drops (likely too small for my taste... sigh)

I don't like diamond stud earrings. I want something I can wear every day, but still makes a statement. What items do you have in your arsenal that you love? Any suggestions? I work with my hands all day doing crafty things at work, so bracelets are out. Plus they annoy me when I type.

the watch will cost way over $10k...

Leon has so many beautiful eternity bands, I'd seriously consider one (or more :appl: ). Even one w/diamonds & tsavorites, which look enough like emeralds to pretend they're your birthstone & they'll wear better. All of them make a statement, you can wear them every day, and get to see them yourself on your hand.

DF, I should've been more clear - it's the stainless steel with rose gold and emerald accent rolex, not the solid RG one! LOL!

Though my MIL has several Patek Philippe (Sp?) watches she never wears - perhaps we can offer to buy one off her. ;)

The only thing holding me back from LM is the fact that it's custom and I can't be physically there - I may go with Victor Canera instead since he's in LA from what I understand. My ILs also live near 23rd st jewelers, so that's an option.

My biggest problem is I don't know what I want! LOL Or, more specifically, the things that really start my motor are more like $20-25k and I'd feel irresponsible spending that kind of dough... I dunno. I was hoping someone would pop in and say "Oh, I got an XYZ last year, I never would have thought of it, but now that I have it I can't live without it!" :lickout:

I've been perusing some antique shops and sites. I just don't know. I realize I can just not buy something, but I do love jewelry so I'm sure I'll end up loving whatever it is... but what is it?!?!

be sure it is a mechanical movement... ;))

DF, I would certainly have someone look at it, but I don't doubt they're real. For our wedding, she lent me a platinum and diamond collar - I can no longer remember the brand, but it was breathtaking. She has an amazing collection of jewelry and diamonds, and would you believe, doesn't really like wearing jewelry? My FIL loves to buy it for her though, so away into a safe it goes...

(PS, he's an only child, too. I love my ILs dearly and want them around for a long time, but inheriting that collection IS something I'm looking forward to....!)

i'm not saying that they aren't real, just that a mechanical watch always worth a lot more than a quartz watch.

I 2nd the rolex vote. I have a stainless/YG one and I love it.

For my 30th I plan on getting the Cartier Love bracelet- the one that screws on with diamonds. I think it is around 8 or 9k. I love it! That would be my recommendation. I like that it can be worn everyday or on a special occasions.

Just wanted to pop in with our decision - I opted for a simpler, less expensive piece (possibly a Cartier trinity necklace w/ diamond bail, or a Niessing ring) and use the remaining money to take my husband to the 2012 Olympics. :) I didn't feel right spending it on me when I knew he would enjoy it. I've never been to England, so it'll be fun to do all the touristy things as well. Now if only Pricescope had a travel forum....

i like the Rolex idea, but without emeralds because they are easily chipped and a Plain or one with a small amount of diamonds are great for years of everyday wear!Thinking back,my 30th birthday present was a heavy gents 14 Karat yellow gold herringbone link bracelet with a box clasp that i still have and wear. I think i will wear it tomorrow!Happy 30th birthday to me...again!
