We are going to elope at Bacara in Santa Barbara on the private ocean side balcony of our room... We are going to hire a photographer... And we are timing the ceremony to that we can have sunset pictures on the ocean/cliffs there.

(It is going to be just the two of us... Dinner will be served on the balcony after sunset...)

I want to look bridey, but not over-the top with it... Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should wear? I want it to be ivory and I want something in my hair, though I don't know about a veil.

I am going shopping tomorrow with a friend... We are eloping in 3 weeks!!! So I have to find somethign ASAP!

Also, does anyone know where I should look for this kind of dress? Bridal shop? Department stores?

Any suggestions in Los Angeles (where I live).

I really appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks!

good call Ebree, I too was going to suggest Jcrew.
Take a look at Nordstrom''s website too.

Scintillating...

If I were going to elope I''d do something less formal. Maybe something calf length instead of full length. And I''d wear flowers in my hair!

HERE''s a JCrew simpler dress. I think it would be fun on the beach and then you (or at least I) wouldn''t feel going around town in it and going out to dinner.

Or maybe THIS one.

Cushioncut,

First and foremost, congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!!! Bacara Resort is just gorgeous, I am sure you and your FI are going to have an amazing time there! I used to live in Santa Barbara, so if you need any recommendations let me know!

Depending on your budget and the style you are looking for I would recommend Nordstrom''s that have a Via C., Saks, Neiman and Marcus, Barneys, Anthropologie and maybe check on the boutiques on Melrose or planet blue, Horn, Kitsen or there is a shop in Manhattan Beach that is fabulous and carries multiple designers called Third Gallery...

I really love Catherine Malandrino too, here are 2 dresses I recently saw, maybe they would work? I wore a dress from her for my rehearsal dinner and love the way her clothes fit!

Good Luck!

I was going to suggest White House Black Market too. They have a small bridal section. But beyond that, they have some cute white dresses, and a beautiful white suit that I want to wear to my rehearsal :)

Than you everyone for your suggestions so far. I never would have thought of J Crew, but I do like those very much, especially the first one that was posted... If I don''t see anything tomorrow I''ll order that and see what it''s like in person...

Nordstrom looks promising too... I will be sure to check them... Ivana - I was looking at that first dress you posted the other day somewhere... Maybe Neiman''s or Sak''s site? I like it. I hope I can see it in person.

I have shockingly white legs right now though. I''d almost rather go long, because if I go three quarter - I am going to have to wear some kind of nylons... Do people wear nylons anymore? Are there any that look good? I feel like they are so old ladyish. :)

I am actually meeting a friend for lunch in Manhattan Beach on Sunday so hopefully that store will be open that you mentioned -- I''ll check it out. Thanks''s for the name, and all the other names too! :)

Ayone elso who has any suggestions, I appreciate them!

Cushion, since you have a couple weeks before your elopement you''d have time to do a few tanning sessions if you want to tan your legs (plus all over!) or you could use those tanning lotions, though I''ve never tried them so I don''t know which ones are good. But I do like the long JCrew gown that you like! Beautiful!!

It''s my favorite of those posted too. Simple and gorgeous. I also reaaaally like the (JCrew) strapless a-line.

Nicole Miller has some nice ones too under their bridesmaid collection.
