No, I dont mean my hair is on trial in a court of law, I''m talking about the trial run of wedding day hair styles...

I''ll have to do my own hair for my wedding day so this week, I''m having a "hair trial" so I can see which styles I can do myself. My question is this - I know I should bring my veil, but am I responsible for bring all the little pins, barrettes, etc. or does the stylist have these on hand to try? I ask because that stuff can add up, especially if I''m not going to use them all. What have others brought to their hair trial?

Bring a veil or hairpiece if you want one, any specialty pins (but for example, you don't need to bring bobbypins), and it's suggested that you don't wash your hair that day AND that you bring a pic of your dress.

I also am bringing pictures of hairstyles I like.

Also try and wear a shirt that has the same neckline as your dress so you can see what it will look like together.

My stylist told me the same although she didn''t mention washing my hair or bringing a pic of the dress. Certainly though, a pic of the dress couldn''t hurt!

Good ideas! I''ll wear a cami and bring my lace bolero so we can see how it looks with veil and with bolero.

I called the "best" salon on the island we''re getting married on and they told me they charge $200!/hr for bridal hair/make up. Can you believe that? Is it me or is that crazy? I''m not even wanting a big frou frou up do. Just either pulled back in a low, to one side chignon, or just some hair pulled back with a barrette. That''s it. They still wanted $200 min. charge. So I think I''ll do it myself. I wonder if people do their own hair or not. I dont want to look like crap in photos but I also dont want to spend $200 on what amounts to a barrette or a bun!

Surfgirl--Could they do all the makeup and hair in 1 hour? so it would "only" be $200 total? Because the price my friend paid for wedding make-up was (I think) $125 for the bride and $75 for MOM? And as I said in a post to Selkie--it was worth every penny!! They both looked amazing, it was very professionally done, it didn''t look like wow --you sure got your money''s worth

--nope--they just looked beautiful.

I don''t know if you can count on every one doing as good a job, but I sure hope I can afford it when I''m the MOB and MOG. They had the first make-up session done before the professional bridal portrait so they knew how it would turn out for the wedding.

At $200 an hour thats highway robbery! You and your hair may be involved in a trial just yet!

Call another salon. There is a time for frou frou salon and apparently this is not one of them. Go in (not to the frou frou robbers-the other ones) at least for a trial...they may teach you some technique that will help YOU fix it and look like...ah you spent about $145.63. ~Just kidding.

That DOES seem really expensive. I guess they know they have a captive audience...

I''m getting my hair and makeup done in SF and it will take 1hr 45min total (they promised!). It''s a very very nice salon right downtown and my total will be less than $200 and probably right about $200 with tips.

But $200 hr just seems insane.
