What to consider when selecting a jade bangle colour?

Thanks to you all, I’ve been developing a love affair with Jade.

Im trying to decide what colour Jade to buy. These are the considerations I’ve had so far:

-what color goes best with my skin
-what Color goes best with my outfits
-what Colors are recognizably Jade (black is not as obvious, for example)
-the meanings and “powers” of each color

Is there anything else I should consider? Maybe some Colors are more valuable than others? Like I have learned imperial Jade is higher value, that’s an obvious one.

Ooh I'd love to help you but it's a really hard question to answer!

How long is a piece of string type of thing.

Some people don't like "dry" Jade, some don't like wishy washy colours, some buy beautiful colours in dry texture, some buy ugly no colour with superb texture, some are lucky to have the budget and buy one with all the best qualities.

Pick so something you love and pay the right price for it!!!

Make sure it fits and is not too thin that it'll break easily!!!

Well make sure it properly fits!!

I think a consideration I make now, that I didn't when I first started collecting jade is- when will this color look best? I live where we experience four seasons, and some of my jades look better in the sunnier times and some in the cloudier. If you live somewhere with consistent sun all year, for example, it would be a bummer to end up with a piece that looks best when its cloudy.

Also, look around at different vendors to get an idea of how they price different colors. Jade prices are all over the place anyway, but some vendors attach higher value to some colors than others do.

Eh, if I am not mistaken, why did the video show an Emerald in a pendant while talking about Jade?

Oh I hadn’t thought about the thinner ones breaking more easily, thank you! Great advice overall here. I really appreciate it.

Is “dry” the opposite of “watery” - the ones with the glossy glow vs a more matte finish?

I also find myself drawn to bangles with carvings.

Oh wow, I would’ve fainted too!!! I once held a jade bangle priced at $50,000… but there was no way I would’ve tried it on! I was scared enough to be holding it!

And yes- it was exceptional, a true sight to behold.

These are great points I hadn’t thought of. I’m also looking at my wardrobe to try and see if there’s a colour that would suit all my outfits haha. I can keep this bangle on all the time right? Unless swimming in chlorine or something like that? So I want it to be versatile!

Haha yes I noticed that too. Green is green to some people!

Absolutely you can wear it all the time. I don't even remove mine for swimming. The mistake I first made with bangles was going too big and I ended up selling off my earliest ones. Once you find the most comfortable size for you, wearing it all the time feels natural.

I wear one of mine swimming all the time. The nicer, harder to buy again one, I take off. Haha I don't think it matters since the swimming one still looks great but it's a psychological thing!

See my necklace? It's got more speckles. This would be "drier" than my sister's bangle

Green jade does not agree with me unless it is blue green which is rather expensive!

I can wear lavender jade for its cool tone, however, I prefer more saturated, intense and vibrant colours.

I am Chinese originated in Hong Kong, and had a colour analysis done some 20 years ago, and I am a "winter".

Earthy colours like cream, beige and brown do not suit me. Also no to yellow metals.

Blue tones suit me, yellows don't.

Hence I don't have any substantial CSs in yellow, orange and brown as most of them don't suit me.

DK :))

I would love a bangle like your sisters. What would I search for?

It's really hard to tell you how to search as I buy from China. Why don't you browse and see what you like in your budget. We can chime in when you find something that you like!

Haha ah! Maybe you were the one using wechat etc? I glossed over those posts because I have never managed to use wechat.

Thank you for the offer! I am going to finalize my correct size and then hunt in earnest. I bought a couple cheapies and a bangle sizer from amazon.

Anyways thanks again for your offer of help!
