Okay, so we''re searching for THE stone, and we plan on buying it in 2.5 weeks. Now this is the question, I want to wear it ASAP, and he wants me to wear it ASAP. Now we both know that I''d still like the proposal to be a suprise (I''ve been dropping hints about being proposed to at Disneyland, and he told me last weekend that he thinks we can find a day to go in April), but because I''m the one searching for the stone, and we already have the setting, how can any of it be a surprise? I was really looking forward to having the ring to wear to various weddings in April. Should I just give it to him and tell him to give it to me whenever? Even though he wants me to wear it right away, too? He does want to take my Dad out for dinner to ask for his permission (he already knows he''s going to bring my Dad to get some crabcakes, he''s so cute...

), but he said after that I can have the ring. What should I do? Give it to him to give me as a surprise? Help! Suggestions?

i think that if you really want it to be a surprise you should find the stone and turn over everything to him. That way he gets the stone in the setting - picks up the setting and will have the ring and you will have no clue. Unless I am missing something in your post??

Otherwise if all that is done and you are already set to pick up the finished product - then I would hand it over to him and tell him to give it back to you when he''s ready to ask "officially"

I would wait until the proposal to wear the ring. If you want the surprise element, give him the ring and let him take the next step. That way, you will be surprised and get the memory of the proposal, rather than it being more of a formality.

This is what i would do...I would let him pickthe ring up at the Jewelers after it has been set and then let him figure out the rest, if he wants to do it at Disney or just at homeor whatever he can decide how best to surprise you...that''s the only way it''s going to be any surprise at all...

But how exciting to know it''s coming sooooo soon!!!!!

First, congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

Second, the surprise could come in the way he asks you. Although I didn''t know when or even if my FI got the ring, I did know that it would happened eventually. I was surpised by the way he did it. I had no idea it was going to happen the day it did or that he would be so nervous about it.

Also, I would hand the stone over to him as soon as you get it and tell him you do not want him to tell you anything after that. The next time you want to hear about it is when he''s asking you to be his wife.

Thank you, I think those are all very good ideas (and mostly the same thing!). I will get the stone, check it out, make sure it''s the right one, and then hand the stone in it''s little envelope, and the setting in it''s little box over to him, and tell him, "Someday you can marry me, it''s in your hands now.." and give him a kiss and let it be. Poor guy, he''s so bad at surprising me.

Yes, it''s very very close! I''m so excited!! Hopefully at this time next month- I''ll be engaged!!!!!!!!

Oh, that''s so exciting!! I agree with your decision... He may be bad at surprising you, but at least it''ll give him a chance.

Amber- YAY- gosh this is really coming together isn''t it?!? The bonus is, since you''ve taken the reins things have really moved along MUCH quicker! Hmmm... gets me thinkin'' here! Anywho... I think you should pass it off to him and tell him the ball''s in his court now. Regardless if it is a grand proposal or something simple and sweet you will LOVE it! And I can''t wait to see that gorgeous setting filled and on your lovely finger- HUGS!!

Definitely let him propose, even if you pick out the stone/setting and everything. If you really want it to be a surprise, that is the ONLY thing that is left for him to do!

I agree with what you (& everyone else!) are saying! Once you get the stone, hand it over to him and don''t even ask to see the finished product until he proposes. Strongly hint that you''d like to be able to wear it in April, but let him make the ultimate decision so you have a surprise there! I knew my fiance was going to propose "before the end of the year" on December 25th, but it was still a suprise exactly when and how it happened!

SOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!! You are SOOOOO CLOSE!!!!!!

Thanks guys, it''s really gonna happen! And get this- last night at dinner -At IHOP no less, he tells me to just move my half of the rent into the ring account, instead of giving it to him, since it would have been him giving me the money later anyway! And he said, "So it can happen earlier, since I get paid earlier". So yay! March 15th!! I''m so excited. Even though I didn''t just have a hand in it, I was basically standing in it, I get what I want, and he still gets to give it to me. I feel so good about this.

Tracy, what''s going on with you? What''s up with the interviews goin'' on? Kalispera, what is that flower in your icon? I love it, makes me want to wear a lei!

Even though you know it''s coming, a surprise proposal is always fun. And if your bf is anything like mine, he won''t be able to wait too long. My fiance proposed the day after he picked up the completed ring!

Amber- seriously, IHOP is a magical place for you two! Well, I turned down CSU Fullerton... money just wasn''t what I''d hoped. I had 3 interviews the other week- Azusa Pacific, Cal State San Marcos, and UNLV. Now just waiting! I''m pulling hard for UNLV and my honey has been very supportive and willing to move... wherever I want. He is wanting us to get settled into new jobs and have this stress over, and then his school will be over, before we start planning a wedding/AKA he proposes. The months are flying by luckily! I won''t know much about jobs until April.... so crossing my fingers this month!!

Amber, this is sooo exciting!! Your beautiful setting is finally not going to be all alone and empty anymore! Yay!! My BF is usually not good at surprising me either, but he totally surprised me with flowers yesterday!! It was my b-day, but I wasn''t expecting them at all! He always gets me the roses sold on the fwy off ramp

But I love them! So, anyways what I''m trying to say is, there is hope for surprises!!
