What would you do and where would you (or did you) go?

We have decided that even though our wedding will be small and simple our honeymoon wont be.

The choices really are endless and before we choose a destination i wanted to hear everyones ideas, just in case there is somewhere we haven''t thought of!

Time would factor heavily. I''d love to take 6-8 months off and travel all around the world. French countryside, Bali, Australia, NZ, Russia, Prague, South Africa, Thailand, the redwood forests...that''s my idea of the ultimate honeymoon.

Ditto. A dream honeymoon is one I wouldn''t have to return from.

A more realistic option would be two weeks in the Maldives, Seychelles, or French Polynesia

In less than 3 weeks now, we''re doing three weeks in French Polynesia. We love being lazy on the beach with gorgeous scenery, so it''s our dream honeymoon (that or the Maldives).

Yes the Maldives is definately already on the list! (earns bonus points with Fi too as there is surf!)

My dream honeymoon would be a backpacking trip through Europe. FI and I always wanted to travel to Europe, but time constraints from work would not allow us to take this honeymoon.
We''re doing Punta Cana instead, which I think will work out just fine

If you''re surf lovers, have you thought of Ecuador? FI went and said it was amazing!

Going to Bora Bora and stayin in one of those private bungalos that is above the water. ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
can you imagine??? look at this.

We got back from our dream honeymoon five days ago

. We had 10 days at a hotel called Le Touessrok in Mauritius which was unadulterated bliss and luxury. There is lots to do on the Island, but we literally sat around on the beach chilling and reading and just being with each other. We then followed up with three days in Dubai en route home and I got some serious oggling of bling done in the shopping malls there; including a thirteen carat rb G IF for 1.9 million US. Absolute heaven for us.

AGREED! If only we had the mollah

Ohh! A trip around the world sounds like an Ultimate Honeymoon to me, too!

However, as someone who still hasn''t decided where to go, we have the following:

Ultimate (For Us) - We would LOVE to go, but know we can''t afford it at this time:

1) Russia in the Summer - Visit the Kremlin, Shopping in Moscow and Kiev, Go to St. Petersburg, visit the Czar''s Palace, pretend to be Czarina Anastasia!

2) African Coast - Stay at a luxury resort by the beach and take a safari

3) Dubai - Luxury High Rise Hotel, Golfing for FI, and Shopping for me!

Dream and Definite Possibilities - We are still debating between these:

1) Two week trip to the Indian Ocean (Maldives, Seychelles and Mauritius)
2) Two week trip to Europe (Mostly Italy: Rome, Venice, Florence, but also a couple of days in Paris and London)
3) One week in Fiji and One week in Sydney, Australia

These were once on the list, but were moved off for reasons unrelated to us wanting to be there:

1) Thailand (Bangkok and Phuket) moved because we would rather do this as part of a family trip to Asia down the line with the kids.
2) South American Cruise taken off the honeymoon list because South America is entering winter now and also because we might be going to Brazil in the next month or so for FIs work.
3) Nordic Cruise (Norway, Sweden, Germany, etc.) moved because this would also make an amazing family trip and we can plan for that instead.

We are 8 weeks out from our wedding and still haven''t decided on a honeymoon...

We''re doing our dream honeymoon.

We''re spending two weeks traveling around Costa Rica. We''re going to do some scuba diving, some rainforest trekking, some whitewater rafting, some ziplining...everything! I''m really excited! The green sea turtles lay their eggs around the time we go, too, so I''m hoping to see that as well.

FI loves the outdoors and has always wanted to visit a rainforest, so this is going to be so great!

We haven''t really had a honeymoon yet due to monetary reasons, even though our elopement sort of counts (though 3 days in NYC during a rainy April wasn''t really romantic!).

Our dream honeymoon would be a 3 week trip down the West Coast, starting in Seattle and ending in San Diego. We''d hit all the major league ballparks along the way, while enjoying beaches, national parks, fishing, shopping, great restaurants, and just exploring places we''ve never been. Maybe someday!

So, the thing about being a travel addict who hates just lazing about for too long is that I spend WAY too much time thinking about my dream trips. So far my favourite ideas are:

14 days in South Africa, touring around, going on a safari, hiking, riding bikes, etc. Kind of modeled after a trip I wanted by my doctor banned me from taking in HS.

One week in Greece. Santorini and Athens, to be specific. Then hop over to Turkey and see Istanbul.

Egypt, Tunisia, and Ethiopia.

The Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Fiji for 5 days, then down to NZ. (Musey inspired me! Her honeymoon looked AMAZING.)

I want to say Bora Bora, but I''d get SO BORED, and if I''m going to shell out a ton of money on a trip, I want to see and do a lot of stuff. Lay about the beach vacations are great for about 3 days. After that, I get sick of it and want to wander around and do something.

We''re pretty much doing ours-we''re going to Singapore and Australia, staying in beautiful hotels along the way. I cannot wait for it!

YES PLEASE!

SINGAPORE! Bee*, you''re going to have so much fun. I absolutely adore Singapore. Promise me you''ll do most of your eating at hawker stalls. Please? The food is so much better. Mmmmm...

(Okay, there are good restaurants. But nothing tops roti prata and mutton curry from a hawker stall.)

We had our dream honeymoon. We stayed at the Westin Resort on St. John in the USVI for ten nights, and it was pure bliss.

We generally love vacations that include a lot of action and sightseeing, but for the honeymoon we wanted to go somewhere neither of us had been before, and we wanted to get in some serious R&R. St. John was perfect because it had beautiful beaches, and most of the island is a national park, so the hiking was fantastic. We took ferries to a couple BVIs while we were there, spent a lot of time snorkeling and hiking, and laying out on the beach. I would not have had it any other way.

My dream honeymoon would be either Napa or cruising around somewhere on a chartered sailboat.

Thanks for all of your replies everyone! I have literally gone all excited and giddy thinking about all of the choices!!

I do know that Bali, Thailand, Samoa and Most of Europe are out as we want to go somewhere new.

Mayachel, your idea sounds amazing, i would love to take 6 - 8 months off but i think we will only have about 2 - 3 weeks!

Hudson, I shall look into Equador, I would love to go somewhere that is out of the norm and sooo far away, Fi is the surfer, i am not, but i could handle somewhere completely different.

Sap, only 3 weeks! enjoy! i believe it is so incredible over there.

Princess, make sure that you do make the time to go through Europe one day, it really is amazing, enjoy your honeymoon, i''ll have to look Punta Cana up!

Iloveprincesscuts, danni and rhbgirl, many a night has been spent drooling over bora bora on the internet!! When we were looking into going to Samoa we had a look at bora bora and yes... i need to win lotto!

Samantha, Delicious Mauritius! Isn''t Dubai just out of this world? I have only been to the airport but even that was amazing... they were raffling a ferarri!

MrsH, You have some amazing idea on your list! i have a feeling that our list will look very similar by the end of it, I woud love to go to Africa.

Aloros, enjoy your dream honeymoon, it sounds amazing!!!

jsm, part of me wants to go to America, hire a convertible and drive to Las Vegas! if only the aussie dollar was better....

i hear what you are saying princess, i asked my Fi if we could have a honeymoon that didn''t involve surfing (all of our holidays involve surfing) he said yeah sure, as long as there is lots of other cool stuff to do! So it probably will end up involving surfing. I would love to go to NZ, but there wouldn''t be enogh snow in March.

Bee, where in Australia are you heading? The West is amazing you know!!

Haven, your honeymoon sounded like a dream.

Claritek, I have heard of Napa, but i am a little geographically challenged, so i will look it up!

Thanks again for all your ideas... sooo exciting!!

We''re going to the east coast this year. We were in Perth last year so we decided to go the other side this time. Cannot wait to see Sydney. Not looking forward to the long long fights though!

Bora Bora, in an overwater bungalow. For at least a week. Complete and absolute heaven!

Our dream honeymoon was South Africa and Mauritus. I''m so upset we couldn''t do it but we are thinking first aniversary. We are going to the greek islands though.
