We picked this site because we like the architecture of the building and we thought that this room was pretty and appropriate for the size of our wedding. We're using the fireplace as the focal point and we'll be getting married in front of it (no fire though). I'll have a very short aisle runner (20 feet or so) and chairs with ivory slipcovers.

At first I thought that we wouldn't need any further decorations but now I want something to make the front seem more wedding-y. I don't have a large budget for this at all, so I'm looking for something inexpensive but effective. I've gone through lots of ideas, but I'm not sold on any of them. So I'd like to see what you gals could come up with or what you're doing for your sites.

Sorry that pic is so dark. Here''s a vendor pic.

lots of greenery on the fireplace with some flowers and candles! nothing tall, just very natural looking!

look further down on this post. this is KIND of what im talking about--very simple greenery, but use lower candles or use floating candles---i think the tall white candles are distracting. and to save money you could use a few hydrangeas and greenery because hydrangeas are cheap but pretty!

We have a similar venue. We are (weather permitting) getting married outside, and we will have two seven-foot tall obelisks with cascading flowers. They will be outside, but will be bought inside and placed on either side of the fireplace for the reception. Could work for your inside ceremony, and right now they are cheap because the summer season is ending! Sorry I don''t have pictures to show you!

Cocolaw, I love hydrangeas and I''ll definitely be using them in my wedding flowers. I really like the garland idea. One of my first ideas was to decorate the fireplace with a garland and then move it over the reception and swag it around the cake table. But it was more expensive from the florist than I had hoped and a bit tricky to execute. Maybe a faux one like in the picture?

girlface, wow seven foot tall obelisks sound impressive!

I was toying with the idea of using potted plants or flowers and setting it up myself. My florist thought that was a great way to save money and that they''re cheap in May from the garden centers. But I''m worried that I''d end up killing them before the wedding.

But I saw this idea and really liked it. I''m thinking of a larger scale version to go on the ground in front of the fireplace. Hopefully the banner will distract the eye from the fake log that irks me so. I''m not sure what type of topiary (live or faux) I should use yet. Also, I''m thinking of making these pearl monograms to hang from the sconces on either side. Afterwards, the topiary banner would go in front of the head table and the pearl monograms would go on the cake table. So that''s my idea for today at least. I''ll probably change my mind some more, hehe.

Anyone else reusing their ceremony decorations at the reception?

What time of day is your wedding? Will the room be dim like the first pic?

I saw the topiaries, is that the feel you''re going for?

Hi House Cat. Our ceremony is at 4 PM. I don''t think that the room will be dim like that. FI is skeptical of having any candles because he thinks that the light will mess with our photos.

Flowers! Even if they are simple silks handcrafted from Hobby Lobby.
