trying again

Okay, now that DH is on board with this diamond obsessed...well you get the idea...there''s been discussion about maybe creating a three stone ring, with my two carat stone as the center. Of course, I can''t make up my mind what I want--the existing solitaire is pretty spectacular, but I love Kaleigh''s pears, but I also love three rounds. I think I''ll just dwell on it for the next ??? months or years.
Here''s the big question, would you rather have an upgraded e-ring/w-ring for a milestone birthday, or for a milestone wedding anniversary? I know the obvious answer is whichever comes first, but let''s just put that aside.

How exciting. I voted for anniversary because this is an upgrade celebrating your marriage. Good luck deciding. Of course my vote goes for a round with pears, hehe.

An anniversary seems most appropriate for a wedding ring upgrade. I don''t think it needs to be just a major milestone though, any anniversary will do when you have the money and are ready. Actually I would use St. Patrick''s Day or the 4th of July or Halloween for an excuse if it would get me more jewelry!!! And I vote for the three stone with rounds because of course that is what I have and like best.

I chose Anniversary because your birthday is celebrating the day you were born

bond you both cherish and share.

Also ... I think pears as sidestones are very delish!

, and I have a milestone birthday in less than a year. Maybe he''s running out of ideas of things to buy. And maybe then I''ll have everthing and can stop thinking about it (i can dream, right?). I have earrings, I have two RHRs*, I have a fab e-ring, I have an anniversary band, I have a nice watch, and I have a diamond necklace...I flirted with idea of a bracelet, but it''s really not something I could wear regularly.

But it kind of struck me a little funny to change my e-ring for my birthday. I''ll probably have to hand in my Pricescope card if I turn down/postpone an upgrade. For an additional 30! months.

My ring(s) are already the biggest/blingiest of my friends (but on par/smaller than SOME of the mom''s at my kid''s school, okay not that many, but still).

Plus, a three stone is VERY big on me. I know, I know, I''ll get used to it, but sometimes I think I should look a little older first.

(*and that bugs me, since I have to trade time wearing each, and they''re both sentimental. I don''t like to have multiple things, just one nice thing I wear all the time).

Just a thought ...

How about going on a very special vacation for your milestone birthday celebration? Some wonderful place you have always been wanting to go to ...

Well...the way this all came to light was one of my prongs was a little loose. So, jokingly, I said I should just fly to Houston & get it fixed, since it wouldn''t be much more than the shipping & insurance costs there & back for my ring

and he got all quiet. Because that''s what he was planning on doing for my big bday--a surprise trip to WF where I could try on rings and look at stones. And then I wouldn''t be second guessing if I like/dislike this ring/that size/shape stone, etc.

I kind of don''t want to just go & look. I want to go and BUY!!!

PS I just had the local jeweler tighten the prong.

Anniversary, although let''s be honest, if my husband wanted to upgrade because it was sunny outside, I would say yes!!! LOL

Ain''t it the truth!

I would rather have the upgrade for an anniversary but whatever. . . .

When I upgraded my mounting I tried on settings with pears and trillions - they just didn''t look right on me. I went with the two round side stones because it looked better proportioned on my hand. I am sure it also depends on the size of the stones and the angle at which they are set. One of these days I''m going to go looking again - just because it''s my favorite thing to do - and also to see if my tastes or tolerances have changed. I really hate to think about upgrading the setting though - you just collect a drawer full of settings. It''s probably a good thing that you can''t trade them in - can you just imagine all of the swapping that would go on?

I voted anniversary though seriously I''d probably go with whatever came first.

The anniversary is the obvious choice since it would be a celebration of your engagement and marriage, but I''m impatient.
