As some of you know, I''m going to NY this day next week and I''m going to have a look at some dresses while I''m there. If I find a dress, then I''ll order in later in the year from Ireland, but one thing that I''m also going to do is have a look at some consignment stores. I''ve lost over 21 lbs but want to lose about the same again if not more, so if I see a dress I like in the consignment store in a smaller size, should I buy it or would I be silly when I wouldn''t fit into it properly trying it on? So would you ever buy a dress that is too small for you in the hopes of slimming down (which I have been doing, just not at my final goal yet)?

If the price was right and it was a smaller size that I knew I could slim into without too much difficulty then yes. If depends on how much I loved it, knew it was within reach to fit into it and also how I felt it would look once I could fit into it. Also that I could afford to take a chance on it, yet still easily afford another dress if I didn''t quite make it.

Hope this helps!

Yep that definitely helps Lorelei! Great points made.

The excitement!

Bee, first and foremost have a great time in New York. I was there this past October. It was wonderful. Secondly, you could always purchase the dress in a larger size then have it altered. If ordering far enough in advance you may want to have a large size dress with the option of having it altered to fit like a glove. Better know you will fit in the dress with a few alterations then not at all.

Thanks Laura-I cannot wait to go! If I''m ordering from a store, I''ll probably wait until later in the year until I lose a bit more weight-I''m just afraid of falling in love with a dress in a consignment store. Thanks again!
