Help! I have this gorgeous Calla diamond setting that I love. The center diamond will be removed and used for the center piece of a ruby pendant that is the inverse of my ruby ring. I want to keep the setting and replace the center diamond with some sort of a colored stone. It will have to be round and is not big. The current diamond specs are 6.03 - 6.08 x 3.68. Because it's small I want it to have a lot of punch otherwise I think it will be lost in the setting. I already have 2 blue sapphire rings, 2 pink sapphire rings, a ruby ring, a tsavorite ring, an opal ring, a blue zircon ring, a golden zircon ring, a spess ring, 2 amethyst rings, 1 FLY diamond ring, 1 bluish/ greyish star sapphire ring and a pinkish/lavenderish spinel ring. I wear a lot of orange in the summer and my spess is more on the reddish side so maybe a fanta orange spess or a fire opal to get the true orange color? Then I was thinking I wear a lot of black and white in the winter so maybe a nice black diamond in the center?

Whew, if you made it through all that and knowing the above what would you put in the center of this setting? At this point I am open to all suggestions!

No budget? Any timeline for the stone? Occasional wear ring?

A knockout, no oil emerald might fill a gap in your jewelry wardrobe.

Finding a round emerald would take some searching!

We thought of that but I am afraid that I wouldn't wear my tsav ring anymore and it has a lot of sentiment attached to it. But a top notch emerald is on the list.

I like Peter's suggestion! Otherwise, since you said you like orange (me too!), but already have a spess garnet, perhaps you may want to look into a fine imperial topaz? :) Fire opal is gorgeous, but it's soooo delicate. Have fun!!

Oh, I didn't realize fire opals were so delicate. See that is why I asked! I'll have to look into imperial topaz.

I would do a bright green-blue/some call "lagoon" tourmaline or russian/chicory emerald. Both are favorites of mine and won't get mistaken for a tsav or blue sapphire.

Gorgeous setting@

I do have my tourmaline, aqua and appetite butterfly brooch. Hmm. I'll have to check those out! Thanks.

This might be kind of out of left field, but what about an alexandrite?
The color change aspect is fascinating and you don’t have anything quite like it in your collection

That is true. Thanks MagpieMama. Another one on the list.

I would suggest a fanta orange spess since your spess is more reddish & you wear a lot of orange. At the same time, the black diamond would also work well with your orange clothing.

Or perhaps something in the turquoise/lagoon range?

Personally, I'd find something stunningly neon to pack a punch in the small space.

Good luck with your search! It sounds fun!

A gorgeous Paraiba had crossed my mind but I do have my blue zircons and lots of opals that cover that color. Thanks!

Then I was thinking I wear a lot of black and white in the winter so maybe a nice black diamond in the center?

Classic-looking ring so my mind went immediately to the classic gemstones (blue or pink sapphire, ruby, less so an emerald in RBC) but you have all of those bases covered once or twice. :cool2: How about a cool-ish (not warm) pale brown diamond? I think that would be awesome, durable, and potentially affordable.

EDIT: not a black diamond; I don't think that would "go" with that ring.

What about a Tahitian pearl to wear with your winter wardrobe?

Ooooooo, now that's a thought. It would go with my watch, too!

I was thinking about that as well. Would be nice for Fall. Another one for the list. It's getting longer each suggestion, lol.
