What would your next stone be?

You've got your engagement ring. Or the deal's done and you're waiting to get it on your finger. Or you know what your e-ring is going to look like when you get one someday.

So....if you could have another diamond, what shape would your next stone be, and why?? (and tell us what shape you have already, please)

No trading up, no trading in...just...another stone. (Fantasize with me here!) Another RB if you have one? Another pear? A different shape? What would you pick?

Right now, I have a pear. If I could have another stone.....right now it's a tossup between a Flanders or a Regent (what the hell's the diff between them anyway?? anybody know?). I'm soooo loving that look.

I've been tempted to get an asscher with my next trade-up as opposed to sticking with a round, my avatar does NOT HELP matters at all...but the only deterrent is that I'd need a much bigger and therefore more expensive asscher to get the same diameter that a round would give me. Just can't justify it...I'm a size girl!

I bought a fakey cushion cut from QVC and wore it one day...I had to return it. The cut was wrong (it was like a cushion/asscher hybrid, and didn''t look right)...but I was struck by how SMALL it was. It was supposed to be 3 ct (and the fakey stone they use is cut to be the same size as if it were a diamond)....I see what MMM is saying about cushion size vs round. I guess it goes w/o saying that whatever the next stone is, it definitely should be big.

Well, I think I would get an asscher, not to be like everyone else! I have princess right now, I''m not a fan of rounds ( sorry guys!) and I''m not a fan of the "broken glass" look of radiants. Maybe an oval, I don''t know. But I love the step cut of the asscher. A royal asscher would be most delicious!!

i''m not greedy. i just want a 2.5ct rb G-H VS-SI to replace my 1.47 ct solitaire ring that was lost in a robbery 10 yrs ago. the price keep going up on these 2+ct.

by the time i find the right stone , who knows what it would cost.

Hmmm.. ok..definitely a different shape(already have a rb and oval). Sometimes I really like the look of the CrissCut but other times it seems too busy(this in a halo might permanently blur my vision). I''ve yet to see one in person.

Or maybe a squatty Rectangular Cushion. Not a perfect square.

Color- i don''t know if I''d go above an I. I''d like some warmth. Clarity -eye clean. Since this isn''t an E-ring as long as I can''t see any crud it''s fine. I was superstitious about e-ring clarity.

Carats/measurements - something 10mm+ so for instance a 10mm by 12mm. I don''t want to see much(or any) finger on the sides. LOL!

Of course in this fantasy I''ve lost all of the preg weight and I''m slim again. So, that means I''m back in my size 4.5 or even a 4.25(Dreamin''!). So, that''d be a nice boulder, proportionately. I''d love to be able to get one that would be the Once and Future...that I''d be satiated to the point that I could just benignly admire other beautiful pieces w/out hankerin''. I totally want off the upgrade-go-round...I''d like a diamond soulmate. Something I can grow into and still feel just as grand wearing at 80+ yrs.

Is diamond fidelity possible? LOL! Now I have an idea how some skirt-chasing men might feel!

My husband just gave me an asscher ring for our anniversary this past weekend, and already I''m thinking about the next ring I''d like (it will have to be years, of course!). I would like a rectangular cushion set in a micropave setting with a very thin band. I don''t mind a lower color, as long as it''s cut well. My husband refuses to even listen to another dream ring idea! I can kind of see his point

Regarding the CZ cushion not looking that big, CZs actually have a higher absolute specific gravity than diamonds, so they will look smaller for the same carat weight. Just a point of interest.

So tempting to dream... Well, first of all, I want to KEEP my 3 ct RB becasue I love it to death, and get another large stone... I dream of a 3 ct "fat" marquise set in a chunky yellow gold setting with "walls" of invisible set princess stones, much like cflutist''s. I have actually seen a ring like this in person and it''s just delicious.

Okay, ANYWAY, I'd get a fantastic 1-2 ct cushion for my next stone.

Asscher would be my other stone. . .probably cut to look like a 1 carat round diameter (would this be about 1.2 ct. asscher??? I'm not sure. . .)

(If I could only pick ONE shape, I'd pick up a HUGE 10 carat round and have it cut into the two above mentioned smaller shapes when nobody was looking

I'd get a 3 stone EC ring. My SIL has one, and I love the steps. I don't think I'd give up the sparkle of the RB for an EC, but I'd sure add a nice sized EC set to the collection.

My Next Stone or My Next Diamond?

I read the thread. If it were my "next stone" I would get the Burmese ruby of my dreams. If it were next diamond piece I would get a "tennis bracelet" (a diamond bracelet) of large stones from Wink that resembles cflutist''s. If it were the next diamond...I think I would get an Eightstar just for the thrill of it. Nope. I never saw one. I''d get a D, IF Eightstar. But if it were for my finger, I still couldn''t go much above 2 carats...so maybe I''d get a bigger one and have it put into some other piece of jewelry. On a necklace, maybe. Maybe I''d ask to have Gurhan make it into a special order piece using 24K gold or a combination of platinum and 24K gold. How about a 5 carat IF D Eightstar to be put in a Gurhan necklace?

I've got a 1.25ct RB, I'd LOVE to have a 3ct RB...DF, I'll be checking my mailbox

...but after that, or before..doesn't really matter, I want an EC. Gosh, I posted a while back about an EC that I tried on but for the life of me I can't remember how big it was. For perspective, it was as wide as a dime and as long as a nickle.

ETA: Oo, must add a fat pear to the list. 3ct+ range.
