Leatrice Eiseman, author of "The Color Answer Book" came up with a list of popular car-color choices, and their corresponding owners'' personalities

Silver - Elegant, loves futuristic looks, cool

White – Fastidious

Vibrant Red – Sexy, speedy, high-energy and dynamic

Light to Mid-blue – Cool, calm, faithful, quiet

Dark blue – Credible, confident, dependable

Taupe/light brown - Timeless, basic and simple tastes

Black – Empowered, not easily manipulated, loves elegance, appreciates classics

Neutral gray - Sober, corporate, practical, pragmatic

Dark green – Traditional, trustworthy, well-balanced

Bright yellow-green – Trendy, whimsical, lively

eta: ha, when i was younger (my first car - high school age) i was Sexy, speedy, high-energy and dynamic according to my red car! then in college i became Credible, confident, dependable according to my very dark blue (almost black

car) now i'm Empowered, not easily manipulated, loves elegance, appreciates classics!

My current car is very dark blue. I have also had dark metallic grey, black, and dark green. I have never really liked light colored cars, I do not like white or light silver for some reason. I also like red or really dark burgundy. Seems I lean towards the deeper tones...

Red SAAB here, again, a reoccuring theme. I think it may have less to do with my personality and more to do with my obsession with the color!

I''ve had two silver cars and a dark green car but I want dark blue for my next car, as long as I have a garage by then. I think darker colors look dirtier more often than light colors do. That''s the main reason my current car is silver.

I agree. If black didn''t show every speck of dust, I''d have one. Silver hides it great!

HAH...calm and quiet? In which life?!

My car is light blue, it's actually one of my favorite colors and I have a ton of clothes and stuff in it. It always cracks me up if I am wearing a light blue sweater and jeans or something and driving in my car or getting out of it, I think people around me must think wow that girl really loves blue. Right after they think, wow she really needs a new car! Is that diamond real?

I love the color and for the next car (a Mini at some point!!)...I want a silvery blue color...but they don't have one stock...so I might have to get a darker blue or something. But I just love blue for cars. One of my dream cars is a Mercedes SL convertible from the 80's in a silvery blue. Yum!

Silver does hide dirt the best, thats why we like it. I love black but there is no way im going to drive a black car in 115 degrees during summer plus too much blowing dust around here.

but actualy its that one cuz I got the dealer to knock 2k off the 5k price because he hadnt sold a car in 6 days because a murderer was hiding in the field behind the dealer and the cops had the whole area blocked off! :}

I''m enjoying my mid-life-crisis car, which happens to be Red Mercedes SL500. But I''ve been accused of being a charter member of the "Car of the Month Club" and the numbers of cars I''ve owned and their coresponding color''s are simply too numerous to mention. Pitty I didn''t discover I have a thing for diamonds much earlier in my life. I could, without question be wearing a diamond so large people in other states would be able to see it''s fire with all the money I''ve spent on cars...........LOL

Also pity that the descriptor "Sexy, speedy, high-energy and dynamic" doesn''t really capture me. Well, maybe the high-energy and dynamic part, but the sexy part.........oh one could wish couldn''t one??

LOL! My first one was hunter green - only had it for 6 months before someone hit me and totalled it.

Then I wanted a red one, but the sports package only came in black, silver, and yellow. So I''ve got silver.

I''m with you Mara, all 3 of my previous cars were blue of some sort!

I''m a huge German car fanatic, and have owned about 11 VW/Audi/Porsche products over the past 14 years. I had one car that just SCREAMED "look at me" - a Jazz Blue VW Cabrio. I looooved that car, and that colour, and I cried when it was totalled, ironically enough by a perfectly restored VW Bus.

However, my current car is a dark gray Audi TT Roadster - which is in NO WAY practical.

However, all of the cars in our stable have been turbos as well, so practicality is pretty much our last concern in relation to car purchases.

The most recent car purchase, I won the colour debate and it''s a bright blue STi.
