What''s in your stocking?

What do you normally get in your stocking and what do you normally put in stockings?

When I was growing up, Santa always put an apple and and orange in my stocking among other things I don''t remember. As I got older, mom and dad, ok mom, put an apple and orange, deodorant, razors, lotion, etc.. Basically, everything that she would have to buy anyway. My other mom and dad put $10 gift cards (bookstore, Starbuck''s), new perfume, cd''s, rolls of quarters, etc... It was like opening another present. Guess which stocking I liked better.

I try to make my husband''s stocking fun because that''s what I always liked, but it''s tough to find cool stuff that isn''t super expensive that he would like. He always gets a piece of fruit in the toe (hey, it''s tradition), boxers, socks, biore (which he loves but refuses to buy it himself), cologne, Hersey kisses.

I just got some Gap boxers for my DH''s stocking...he actually has a couple pair that I just LOVE to wear to bed sometimes, lol, so these will be a his n hers kinda gift

.

He didn''t do a stocking for me the first year we lived together, but has caught on now and usually goes to Target and gets me fun hair clips, razor cartridges, just silly little things that are fun...and last year he got me a 14k beagle charm for my charm bracelet and put it in my stocking, which was a nice surprise of the sparkly variety, he hee.

Oh, and I also usually buy him some nice socks to put in the stocking..last year I found some Tommy Bahama golf and martini themed ones that he really liked. This year I think I''ll throw in some golf things like tees or golf balls, and I''ve been thinking of getting him a new money clip or some sort of accessory from Tiffany''s so I might put that in there as well.

Oh, stockings can be fun, can''t they?

I''m working on the stockings for my kids and their steadies. And one for hubby, so that''s 5 this year.

I''ll do iTune gift cards, Starbucks gift cards, tradition for my kids is the Lifesavers Book of Candy they put out every holiday.
I''ll also put in some cheapo jewelry for the girls. Oh and this year I bought small travel sizes of a Pepper Body Wash for the guys. (yummy scent) Lip treatments from Mentha, travel sizes of nice shampoo and stuff like that. My son loves getting the scratch off lottery tickets in his stocking! I also bought some really nice pens for their stockings.

I get chocolates, socks and little useful trickets, usually for school or my apartment. Sometimes a pack of underwear when I''m running out...

My siblings and I usually put candy, magnets and other fun guizmos in the parents'' stockings. Stockings are fun! My mother and I have started a project and are stitching stockings for all five of us plus my FI to replace the ones she made about 20 years ago... My sister''s is done and I have another one half-way done; my mom has two started.

One year I got charcoal. Actual charcoal. But that was from my parents. I guess I was a bad kid that year.

I bought Christmas stockings for DH and I 2 years ago and last year I put a few fun gifts in his, but he didn''t put anything in mine. Maybe I''ll hold out this year. LOL.

Hehe, one year my mom put hard black candy that resembled coal in my dad''s stocking.

One year, when I was little I found the key to my mom's Christmas closet. Yup, she had a seperate locked closet just for Christmas.

As soon as they were out the door, I got the key and opened the closet. I spread all my gifts on the floor. They weren't wrapped yet. The door came flying open and it was my brother ( he was 6 years older than me )

!! He said oh boy, I'm telling Mom!!! He did once she got back. She told me my gifts would be given to less fortunate children. I felt horrible.

But I did recieve a few gifts that year. Did I quit my snooping in the years to come?? Nah, I still snoop to this day. Not for Mom's gifts, but for Hubbies!!!

FYI, when hubby wanted to propose to me, what was I doing?? Snooping at my parents house, it was a few days before Christmas. He was calling me to come downstairs, I said I am snooping!!! He said quit snooping and get down here. That was awesome!!!!

I give my kids stockings. DD gets a gift of jewelry in the toe of her stocking, and my son usually gets a cool pair of sunglasses in the toe of his stocking. DD gets makeup, underwear, perfume etc... My son gets candy, underwear, fun pens, etc...
