I''m getting really antsy to buy my wedding ring. I know that I want the 1.9 mm shared prong ring from signed pieces. My wedding isn''t till September so I have 8 more months left, should I just order it now and put it away, or spend the money on something more important for right now? I dunno!!! I asked for it for Christmas from FI, but I keep thinking wait till after Valentine and my b-day. If he doesn''t get it by my b-day just buy it myself.

If you think there's a possibility of getting your wedding band for Valentine's Day or for your birthday, I'd wait and see what happens. My FI ordered my wedding band the same time we had my engagement ring done, so I've had both for quite a while now. We haven't ordered my FI's band yet but I think we're going with Boone Rings, and I've heard he has a short turn around time, so I'm not worried (our wedding's in July).

Maybe a fat chance, we are doing a lot to the house right now. He doesn''t see why I need a diamond wedding ring, he thought all wedding rings are plain. I would like to have both, plain looks weird with my e-ring together, because you do not see any metal on the e-ring face up.

I got mine last week as I wouldn''t be in the US again until the honeymoon. My wedding isn''t until June 09, but the savings that I make by buying it in the US make it worthwhile so that''s why I got mine early.

I''m getting married in September as well. I bought mine WICKED early. My ering was weird, so I knew I''d have some trouble finding the right ring. I actually went through three bands before I found the right one, and I just found it last month. So I put it away and it''s awaiting finally being worn. FI is waiting to get his band until June or July. I know a lot of people wait until a couple weeks before the wedding to get their bands. But I don''t think it really matters when you buy it.

I'm hoping to get mine soon and my wedding isn't until December!

Yes there is a definite savings buying here Bee, I don''t like 10k gold either, no offense!

I''m held back because I think he''d be mad at me getting it myself, he wants to be romantic and chivarous and buy it for me, but he can''t afford what I want (the $500 ring) and I don''t mind buying it myself, but he thinks it shouldn''t be that way, what should I do?

BTW I am just itching to treat myself to something, I''m graduating in 6 days with my BA and I thought kill two birds with one stone and be practical. I need a wedding band anyway.... hmmm..

so confused!

I happened to see my wedding ring in a clearance sale area of my jeweler''s store about a month after we ordered the e-ring. It was exactly what I wanted, an OGI diamond band with engraving and milgrain, and it was more than 50% off the original retail price. We didn''t wait at that price!

I''m not getting married until October, but we purchased my wedding ring in December. We happened to stop by a local jewelry store during a trunk show and took advantage of the variety and special savings that they had that weekend. I''m thrilled to be done with it...but it''s definitely hard because I want to wear it already!

We bought our rings in December, for our August wedding. I''m going back to the US one more time in July to pick up my WD and my wb (hopefully to let is resize in a smaller size!)

Mustang,
What if you got yourself the diamond band as a graduation present and your very chivalrous FI purchases the platinum band you get married with and wear when snorkeling on vacay? btw, even if you got it now, SP gives you 30 days to return if he were to surprise you with a bday or vday prez..

our wedding is in Sept-- but I started my wedding ring on Layaway

in the summer of 07. I visit every month

.. I will prob pick it up in August

. If I had it in my hands earlier --I would prob be bad and wear it now

. So it might be a good idea to wait? its toooo tempting.

We''re a bit unconventional I guess, my FI ordered the matching wedding and eternity bands the day he bought the engagement ring. Mainly because we were in the US, and he didn''t like the idea of a jeweller at home (Australia) trying to match my e-ring perfectly.

Now the little beauties sit in my bedside table, waiting for the 5 minutes every night I try them on and gaze at the sparkles.

I am getting another wedding band though, just a white gold with engraving as we travel a lot and he''s worried one day I may lose my hand fighting to keep my wedding set :) Am going to order a Charles Green one soon hopefully...

We''re getting married in August/September though so have already started looking at his band as he wants titanium (such a boy thing) and just don''t want the stress coming up.

We''re having a 2-years engagement and wanted to spread out the spendings, so we ordered them at 12 months out, got them a month later. They''re sitting in my parents'' safe at the bank... I had it for two weeks and I miss it!

you know you WILL need it by September, and there are a lot of other things that will come up to take your money between now and then... so there''s no harm in going ahead and getting it, BUT can you live with it in the house knowing you "can''t" wear it yet?

I had my ring made from another ring so we did it about 3 months before the wedding in case the stones weren''t right and I had to find something else. I had the ring in my hands a week later and it was just killing me not to wear it. I tried it on a lot. and then I had to make sure it was somewhere that I would not lose it. I over-analyzed it and decided it wasn''t safe in my jewelry box because "what if somebody broke in? They would be taking my wedding ring!" (My e-ring would be on me) So I hid it with my wedding shoes on a shelf in my closet. Then I worried that I would forget both when packing to go to the wedding. I was a nervous wreck!

So feel free to go ahead, just know where you''re going to keep it and be ready to not allow yourself to wear it!

I got my e-ring at Singlestone and we're both getting our bands at Singlestone. Since they are singlestone's custom design we're not in any hurry to get them. We'll order them probably a couple of months before the wedding which is in October. Gives me time to save up for my FI's ring!

i got my upgrade ER last jun and found my wedding band about 3 days later! lol, i couldn''t wait. at the time i purchased the band, the wedding was about a year away.

This wedding band it not on the website anymore. I wanted that same band and now it''s gone. I wonder why? Anyone know?

I bought my wedding band 9 months ahead of time. It started looking for what I want before we got engaged because I wanted a particular style of antique band, not a reproduction. When I finally found it I bought it that same day.

I wouldn''t have bought my wedding band so early if it were something easier to find in order to allow myself time to save more.

I bought my wedding ring about 10 months before our wedding because I came across a good deal. I wouldn''t recommend getting it so early as it''s definitely hard not wearing it. I think a few months ahead of time is good.

My husband bought my band at the time same he bought my ering...both were custom, so it made since to go forward since the jeweller already had the ring and wax setting to match both pieces perfectly!

I am a planner. Some people find this a particularly annoying quality...but I am from the mind set that if it needs to be done regardless, why wait? If you can afford the band, and can purchase it without offending anyone, then I don''t see a reason to wait. Who knows what the future holds? 6 months from now the band could be gone, you two could have more bills, or you could be rolling in the money ... but, what you DO know, is that right now you have the ability to buy the wedding band you want...I''d go for it!

Explain to your FI that a marriage is a balancing act. If he can''t...you can, and vice versa (does that make sense??). Tell him that you wanted to do this, and you want to buy his ring too! Done and Done!
