Ladies, when did you take your engagement photos? And after you took them, what exactly are we suppose to do with them? I''m just a bit confused. We are planning on getting them done. I know I want one for people to sign around the matting at the reception. What did you ladies do with your engagement photos? TIA!

i know a lot of people use them for their save the dates and some even include them in their invitations

That sounds like a good idea to me! How about after the wedding, sending it out as part of the thank you card or is that suppose to be a picture of the wedding or the honeymoon?

i'm sure it really depends on the couple, but i always receive a photo from the wedding with the thank you card

my friends had a cute idea, they love to read so they made a bookmark with their ephoto on it for their guests, just a thought

I''m hoping to get some done around October/November. We''ll probably call them engagement photos, but the reality is that we don''t have any photos of us together, and we''d both like some.

As far as what people do with them, they display them in their houses, display them at the wedding, put them in invitations/thank you cards/holiday cards, give framed ones to loved ones, etc! Oh, not to mention engagement announcements in the newspaper!

It depends on what you want to do with them... You should probably get them done about six months before the wedding. And in addition to the other uses listed, some people turn their photos into a guest book.

Ladies, thanks so much! I love all of these ideas! Does the guest book take the place of the e-pic with everyone''s signature on the matting? Would having both be overkill? I love the bookmark idea too since we love to read and we want to donate to a charity instead of having favors!

i''m having 2 engagement photos since it''s part of the package that we booked.

we''re having one done this fall and the next for spring 2010. i told my photographer that i want to showcase the rich colors of fall (reds, oranges, browns) and the vibrant colors of spring (pastels).

my photographer recommended that the engagement photos be shot at least 6 months prior. my wedding is next july and i''m going to do the engagement shoot in early october i think.

i''ve seen a lot of guest books utilizing the engagement photos so i''m thinking it''s a popular trend now. i love the bookmark idea too!

for us, we''ll be taking them too late to use for the save the dates so i think they''ll just be fun pics of us to have. we''ll probably frame some and we may do the guest book thing.

My wedding is June 2010 and we are getting e-photos taken the first week of October. We will put them on our save-the-date magnets which we''re sending out right after the New Year. We''ve also considered framing a couple and giving to parents as Christmas gifts. I will also probably frame a couple for us to put around the house, and may include a few on the photo slideshow which will be played at our rehearsal dinner (and in the background in the foyer at the reception.)
