Where can I find a platinum chain that is at least 2.5mm wide?

I'm reading that PT is cheaper than gold now. When I'm looking at some now, I see those with scrap value of $400 selling for 2k. I don't need anything fancy, just a sturdy white metal (gold ot PT) for my star pendant.
Should I do antique silver instead? I feel that it's high maintenance and needs polishing. The star is from early 1800s and it's partially set in silver.
TIA!

Have you checked here?

I haven't looked at prices for the width that you want, but do you need to go that high in mm?

@Lookinagain yes :( the star is very heavy and this is what DK recommended.
I did look at the site and they are retailing for $4k with the melting price of $800. The markup is wild for a simple chain.

Then I might consider the antique silver. I'm assuming that you won't wear this everyday though. If you plan to wear it a lot, then I think I'd keep stalking Ebay, Goodwill, etc. for platinum. However for occasional wear, I'd probably go with the silver instead of paying $4k for a chain. I'd also consider white gold.

I was just looking at Etsy for them. Not sure what kind of link that you want but here's a 2mm one for about $1500

another 2mm

I cannot find 2mm with this seller but I've had these on my watch list for a while and the prices are really good for plat. But 1.5 is the biggest I see.

Omg 4k for a chain??? Crazy markup!

I’ve been watching TRR and both high carat gold and platinum pieces are rare, and high cost. Seems platinum “made” pieces have prices climbing with gold.

If it were me, I’d experiment with a high quality sterling chain. I’ve seen preowned chains that are more interesting and heavier weight, but at a fraction of cost of platinum. Then you can wait it out to find that perfect platinum chain. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah I am leaning hard into silver for non-rings. I like how it looks when it oxidizes. And the price of precious metals is ridiculous.

Ooh your antique star pendant is beautiful!

Menē sell some platinum chains and are quite transparent about their pricing over the current metal value: https://mene.com/chains/platinum

Their “Menē Classic Chain” looks like it may possibly be sturdy enough, based on the model pic (below), but I couldn’t find exact width measurements? The 18” length is 7.14 g of platinum and about $300. The 26” length is 10.28 g of platinum and about $435.

I know you already got the chain, but in case you don't like it, I would suggest you find an antique sterling watch chain. Would be gorgeous with the star!

Shop for me, please! I can always keep the white gold one for another project or for my bazillion pendants.

I purchased a 2mm 14K WG box chain from this Etsy seller in 16in so that I could wear it with a 2in variable extender for longer pendants.

I can only find robe chains in YG in 2.5mm, and believe it is worth checking if they could make a WG one for you.
