Hi Lilly, and welcome!

Give David at Diamonds by Lauren a call. I had talked to him a couple of months back (regarding a pendant with a champagne vs. Y-Z yellow), and he said he could find what I was looking for. I''m sure he can help you too.

I''d love to see more champagnes posted here. I think they are beautiful. Please keep us posted on your journey.

Thank you, DianondLil

Since I''m new at this, you probably know something I don''t know. Where can I find David at Diamonds by Lauren''s phone number?

here''s the link

Thank you, mrssalvo

I checked the "ice stone" site. It was a good find, however, they only had yellow, blue, pink, orange and green diamonds, and not champagne (or brown).

I was a bit shocked by their prices. I thought color diamonds are less expensive than colorless/white diamonds.
Can you tell me what makes color diamonds more expensive than white diamonds especially when they are about the same grades besides the color?

Thank you.

you can do a search on colored diamonds here and a bunch of threads will come up. i have heard Champagne diamonds are very rare which makes them more $$

Their website (LINK) instructs to e-mail for the phone number... I am sure those Pricescopers who have bought diamonds from DBL have it as well.

It shouldn't take more than a day to obtain it by e-mail though. At present there are several brown diamonds on the DBL list for starters.

Another website to look at would be Herskovitz & Polnauer, especially if fancy shapes are goo for you

Aside this, two 0.2 worth notes...

#1. "Ideal Cut" may or may not work that well when there is some color in the stone that should show as opposed to not. I can't say I know if anyone cuts H&A brown rounds, of if H&A look that great on a darker color.

#2. C1 and C2 is a light shade... I am not sure how those translates in GIA terms, but they might be O-P or so. This could be silly - I simply do not know. The lightest brownish diamonds are sold in guise of relatively inexpensive whites under the more common name of "light brown" or "top lightbrown". Unless you have seen some examples of C1-C2 graded by the Argile scale, it may be useful toclarify this.

#3. Colored diamonds are quite a bit more expensive than colorless - yellows are the "cheapest" with prices compareble with colorless. Brown and Gray ones are less expensive than colorless - in general. So the prices at Icestore are not that unusual. there are hardly any bargains among colors, because there are allot fewer stones considered "fancy color" to begin with. Now, why can't I remember of a good webpage explaining this ?

You might want to try Garry's website (LNK).

Hope some of this helps...

this is a c4 or c5 that a local jeweler got in for me to check out.....don''t know who the source was. it was gorgeous.

i love champagne diamonds. however, i just read something that indicated the argyle [?] mine in australia won''t be producing much after 2006. perhaps AU pricescopers can confirm this?

champagnes are a bargain compared to pinks....and yes there is such a thing as pink champagnes!

Thank you everyone. They are all very helpful.
I haven''t found "the one", but I will keep looking.
If you find more helpful tips, please let me know.
Thank you again.

I had a chance to view a champagne diamond a few months ago. I have no recollection what the grading was, but I can tell you that the stone sparkled like crazy. I was amazed at how much sparkle it had. It was in a pawn shop of all places.

I''m so glad others out there have some appreciation of champagnes! I think they''re gorgeous!! I too, have had difficulty seeing anything of quality cut or clarity in person. I''m starting to think screening for a good return policy is my best option. This is a light yellow from Fay Cullen, but I thought I''d post it to show what I see as the beauty of stones that are often perceived as "lower quality" just because they aren''t either colorless or fancy.

Here''s a marquise cognac diamond ring that I love. I don''t have the site from which I grabbed it, but it''s here for your appreciation none-the-less.
