Hi everyone! So I have been researching about diamonds for an engagement ring and I have come to the conclusion that I would really like a hearts and arrows cut. I am having trouble finding places in NYC where I can see some of these diamonds along with their ASET images?? Can someone steer me in the right direction? I know that I can purchase online (WhiteFlash or Brian Gavin) but I would really prefer to preview some diamonds in person before committing to the purchase. Any other online suggestions are also welcome if in-person is not possible. Thank you for all advice given!

Distinctive Gem is in NY, but I don’t know if consumers can visit their physical location, or they only sell online. Also try Diamonds by Lauren and ID Jewelry. All highly reviewed on this forum and I believe either already have, or would provide, ASET images.

Good old gold is in NY also

If ever upgrading is even a slight possibility, this would not be a good vendor to use. I know this from experience. I no longer recommend this store.

No, Distinctive Gem is online only. They do not have a physical location. I have purchased from Jonathan and recommend him highly especially for antique style diamonds as well as hearts and arrows, and his stone inventory is online. I think he usually doesn't carry many hearts and arrows stones, but it's worth a look.

Diamonds by Lauren is a great place to look for colored diamonds and various shapes of diamonds and gemstones. They have never specialized in hearts and arrows rounds, however.

ID Jewelry is a nice jewelry store, but they also do not specialize in hearts and arrows diamonds.

Whiteflash, on the other hand, IS a vendor that specializes in hearts and arrows diamonds, and most of the people here who have bought from them did it online with no issues (including myself several times). They have an excellent upgrade policy and the diamonds are cut with such strict parameters that it's just not really necessary to see them prior to purchase. If you get it and want larger or a higher color, etc., you have a return period. Although there are diamond shortages now due to recent events over the last couple of years, Whiteflash has always had the best selection of hearts and arrows diamonds as that is their main business.

Victor Canera is a custom ringmaker in CA who makes beautiful handforged settings for the stones he sells. I am fortunate to own a few! Check out his inventory of hearts and arrows diamonds online, as well. victorcanera.com

Many years ago, we got my ER diamond from Diamond Ideals in the city. They were a PS memebr at the time and specialized in super ideal diamonds. I haven’t dealt with them in years, but it looks like they’re still around: http://www.diamondideals.com/

I think your idea of viewing diamonds in person is a great one! Here's another local suggestion for you: David S. Diamonds at 5th Ave, & W. 45th St.:
Not every diamond in their inventory will be true H&A, but David S. is quite possibly the Manhattan diamond retailer that is most interested in helping their customers appreciate the importance of light performance. Will definitely have the tools you're hoping for (e.g., ASET images, H&A viewer) -- and by all reports, the staff will be enthusiastic about sharing them with you, and will not be pushy.

Greenwich St. Jewelers in downtown Manhattan is a terrific, brick-and-mortar, full service jewelry store with a very eclectic range from traditional to contemporary/"edgy" -- which makes it a wonderful place imo to audition a variety of e-ring settings & wedding bands for men and women. And In my experience, the staff is personable and helpful, not aggressive-pushy.
(I can't speak to the caliber of their loose stones or the diamonds in their showcase rings because I've never scrutinized that aspect of their inventory. )

Although both David S. Diamonds and Greenwich St. Jewelers are open on Saturdays, I hope you have the flexibility to schedule appointments wherever on weekdays, so you can avoid Saturdays when it's more zoo-y at any diamond retailer or jeweler.

Wishing you much fun!

Just double-checked the James Allen website & they have re-opened their NYC showroom:
But since you'll want to specify the parameters of the stones you'd like them to bring into the showroom for your viewing, I'd hold off on making an appointment there (if the idea appeals to you) until you have viewed more stones in person & have the confidence to provide particular color-clarity ranges.

Just as a clarifying follow-up to the post at #4 re Good Old Gold and Distinctive Gem: if the possibility of upgrading matters to you, that would not be a reason to consider Distinctive Gem . DG doesn't currently offer any kind of trade-up policy -- only a somewhat restrictive, 14-day return policy:

@Rhino, can you clarify the status of your upgrade program?

You could fly Southwset Airlines (RT) to Hobby Airport, rent a car, drive to Sugarland for around $400-$600 from LaGuardia.

Ok, I was worried about this because I like to window-shop for upgrades. I checked with Jonathan, and he said the upgrade program is still in place.
