I live in T-shirts in the summer but I have the hardest time figuring out where to find nice quality, soft ones that fit well. I am hippy so I don''t like things tightly fitted but I want nice quality and a bit of styling. Any ideas?

Try Macy''s, they have their own brand called Charter Club. I love them, they are soft, well made and fit well. Not a lot of styling to them though... They come in tons of colors, and are on sale right now.

Try Alternative Apparel. They have a zillion cuts and they''re all fab.

I really like the Ralph Lauren tees. They are made of really soft durable cotton, are shaped nicely but not tight fitting, and VERY comfy. If you have a Ralph Lauren outlet near you can probably snap some up for $15-$20 each, and they come in tons of nice colors with contrasting ponies embroidered on the chest. I have a few that are 3 years old and still look great (no pills or fading). I would have more that are that old but I spill stuff on my shirts a lot

Banana Republic has some great soft tees that have a bit of stretch. They usually make different colors and necklines every season for variety.

I like Michael Stars, 3 Dot, and Splendid. Most of them have a web site you can go on and have lots of styles and colors!

Caslon by Nordstrom has some cute tees. They are soft and comfy, too. Gap is always a good place for staples, but, not that fun. I second DiamondFan, Michael Stars has soft cute shirts.

I seriously love Alternative Apparel's tshirts...!! I have a few of them but I am more a tank girl than tshirt so I have a ton of their tanks. I also like 3 Dots and Splendid tees as well. I am SUPER picky about my tshirts because so many of them are just not flattering to many women...I want a super soft, thin, stretchy material that I can layer without looking bulky. AA is the best for that in my opinion, though Splendid has some great long sleeve tees I wear during the winter.

Faconnable (can be found at Nordstrom''s).

This is going to sound silly, but I''ve found great quality tees that are cut well with nice thick fabric at tjmaxx and marshalls. It''s difficult to find more than one at a time or the right colors you want, but the prices are great and the quality is actually really nice too.

Well, it depends on how casual you are, but I know of some amazing t-shirts. They''re soft, comfortable, made of really good feeling cotton, and they''re loose without being shapeless.
They''re from Life Is Good I give them as presents to everyone every christmas to rave reviews. Plus they last forever, I gave one to my husband the first christmas we were dating and it still looks just as good. (granted that was only 3 years ago.)

I really love J.Crew''s favorite fit tees. They come in crew neck, v-neck, short sleeve or long sleeve and they are really well made. Thin, but not too thin (I don''t like the tissue tees, I think they are just too thin), and they stand up to wash after wash. Plus they are cut just a bit longer which is nice. I know you''re petite, AllisonFaye, but I don''t think they would be too long for you. I don''t like a tee that is short so that when I bend down there is not enough coverage between the shirt hem and the waist of my pants/jeans.

Someone else mentioned the RL tees, those are nice as well! I''m a fitted tee addict. Three Dots aren''t too shabby either. Michael Stars run small but have cute styling...Charlotte Tarantola usually makes a few fun sparkly tees/tanks for their spring/summer line and they are ok but don''t hold up that well for the price. I think typical retail on those is around $68 but I can usually find them on sale for about 30% off. oh, and Gap has favorite tees as well that are more form fitting and pretty nice, they also come in petite sizes and are the same price range as J.Crew, around $15-20. JC also has cashmere tees in different weights depending on season if you''re into cm.

KCouselle, I love TJMAXX and Marshalls! You can find name brands at reasonable prices. I can''t fathom spending more than $15 on just a t-shirt.

American Apparel has all sorts of styles and colors, and doesn't make them in sweat shops! They have some pretty silly stuff as well, like sparkly and lame leggings, but also carry basic skirts and comfy loungewear. They have an online store, too.

ETA: there is also a store called Lucy that mostly has workout and loungewear -- they have some of the above-mentioned brands, including Splendid (which really is nice) and their own house label, and they have good sales. They are online also -- they don't have them where I live, but I wandered into the one in Union Station in DC on a layover and they had adorable, well-made stuff.

+2 on the JCrew shirts! I literally live in them 24/7!

James Perse has some nice ones. There is an awesome tank with a knot in it that looks really flattering on. His cotton is very soft too.

I second DF on the James Perse Ts -- but I get mine at Loehmann''s. Sometimes they have them available on their website, smartbargains.com. They are super-comfy and flattering, but not skintight.
Another brand that Loehmann''s often has that I love is Ninety. Most of their stuff is lyocell or modal fabric, which is stretchy but not clingy, and the cuts are really flattering and more interesting than just a basic T. And they are nice enough to dress up too -- I wear them with jeans and shorts, but also with skirts or suits for work.

Modal is made from the Beech tree I think, it is super soft and natural and they usually add a touch of lycra to it for shape. It is so comfy.

These are cute but I wish the website had better pictures of the actual items.
