I have seen concave cut gems online and now I would like to see some concave cut gems with my own eyes. Does anyone know where I can see them either on the east coast or in Las Vegas?

Does Richard Homer show his gems anywhere or have any information on where I can see some of his work in person?

Hi, Richard performs gemstone roundtable events with 7 or 8 retail jewelers around the country. This is a situation where you will be able to review a nice selection of a 100 or so of his best work - all in one evening. You will need to get yourself invited though.

I don''t know all of his stores, but I''m certain he can be found in: Oakland, Minneapolis, Tacoma, Boise, Reno, west side of Chicago, Champaign/Urbana, and south of Cleveland - near Akron/Canton. He does not go to all stores every year. There may be others he''s added this year, but these I know of. You could email Richard to find out where he will be. He is one of the nicest guys in the business, I''m sure he will respond.

Just emaill him! He is very nice and he can tell you if any Vegas jewelers carry his stuff. There must be at least one!

i can vouch for the stones, though. I have one I just purchased and it is SOOOO much nicer even than the picture. I haven''t done a thread yet because I am feeling lazy.

Mine looked pretty nice on the site, but it''s just amazing in real life. I am trying to figure out how to afford another.

Also, if you put his name in the search box here, you can see other people''s photos of his stones in RL.

Warning though, his stones are very intense. These are not demure, laid back little things, they are brilliant, sparkly, attention getters that people can''t miss. You can''t just wear these and blend in with the background. Even small stones seem to pop out of their settings and grab all the light in the room. If you''re in a restaurant, and you go to grab your wine glass, everybody at the table will notice the stone right away. So be prepared, it''s like living with a celebrity.

If you have your eye on a particular stone, you can always purchase and return within a couple of days if you don''t like it. But you''ll like it.

You are correct; to fully appreciate and decide if concave cutting is for you, you must see it in person. It seems like most people either adore it or dislike it with hardly any in-between. I get postcard notices of the roundtable meeting occasionally as he travels around. My understanding is that it is a invite only show but he seems a very pleasant person and I’m sure if you email him, he will inform you of his schedule and possible even send you the invitation. There are a few vendors who carry his concave faceted stones “in-house” with video capability like Wink Jones in Boise, Idaho, who might be willing to give you a first hand look at how the stones behave via video.
