Anybody know where to find good calligraphy fonts for addressing Save the Dates (hopefully for free)?? I''ve been Googling for a while now and I can''t seem to find anything good. And my copy of Word has two sad calligraphy style fonts

Hopefully you wonderful ladies can find me something good.

dafont.com has free fonts..

I used veer.com and purchased some fonts for about $19

Thanks! I actually found a couple of those after I posted (should''ve waited 5min before posting ... haha).

How fancy of a font do most people use on their envelopes? Are you going for a simple look? Or something more ornate? I''m just curious since I can''t say I''ve seen many wedding invites in person.

I think I'd match the font to how formal your wedding is and how formal your invites are. I hope that makes sense.

ETA: have you posted your invites online for us to see? If not, maybe you can post a photo and we can offer font suggestions?

I used DEAREST SWASH on most of my invite pieces...

that was my "script font" my non script was COPPERPLATE GOTHIC.

Here is an example of our names in Dearest Swash

and here was an example of my envelopes.. I made WRAP LABELS... and hired a calligrapher I found on the net to write in a style that was similar to dearest swash...

Here are my Save the Dates: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/save-the-dates.103587/

As I look at fonts, I really like the ones that look like handwriting, rather than the ones that look like text or look too ornate. Basically, the ones that look like I could''ve written them if I had the time or patience

For example, I like the Jane Austen script here: http://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=601

Is that too informal? FI seems to prefer the more traditional fonts, but to me they seem too formal for our save the dates. Let me know what you guys think!

are those your actual save the dates or the design you are using?

oh silly me.. those are the actual ones..

well jane austen is a pretty cool font.. are you going to use a simliar motif on your invites as you did with your STD''s??? Dearest Swash which I used was sorta a vintagy typeface.. handwritten and ornate at the same time. My husband is also really traditional and he loved them.... you really just need to experiement.. the best thing to do is pick two fonts.. do not do any overkill with ital/bold etc.. LESS IS MORE :)

Hmmm, my person opinion is that the Jane Austen font is a tad ''heavy'' for your STDs, if that makes sense? IMO, there''s a swirl design in your STDs that may be complimented by swirl in the font.

Maybe something like this?

Those are our save the dates, so we don''t need a font for those. I''m really just looking for something to address the envelopes with as we''re going to print directly on them instead of hand writing them. So it kind of needs to go with what you''re going to get inside the envelope without being exactly the same.

For reference, FI likes this one a lot: http://www.fontspace.com/digital-graphics-labs/chancery-cursive
And this one: http://www.fonts4free.net/francisco-lucas-font.html

I like both, but something about them just seems a bit formal ... though I guess going too formal is always better than going not formal enough.

That''s a great idea! I like the way you think. What font is that?

Here''s your STD for reference. (I hope you don''t mind me posting it here...)

Very cute, by the way!

jfus, is your invitation done by letterpress? It''s very nice! Dearest Swash is a very nice font

Scriptina might look nice with your STD then again I am biased because that is my favourite font of all time :D

Everyone is making me jealous with their beautiful save the date cards! We are having a destination wedding with our immedate family only and a handful (quite literally) of our closest friends and everyone has knows the date, so it would be totally pointless to send them and such a waste of money, but looking at everyone else''s beautiful examples, I wish we had have just sent them. Oh well, think of the extra cocktails we can buy with the money we saved

Honey, mine were only $25 for 100 of them! It was a steal. They''re not as fancy as some, but they work for us.
