Hi there,

For the first time ever, I have bought a carcass of a ring to try and repair. It's an 18ct gold ring with a longish piece of coral and a missing stone. Still waiting for it to arrive in the post so don't know the measurements yet, and information was scant, but at £50 it seemed a bargain!

I am still thinking of what to put there but the coral is a vivid orange and I would love to create a Charles Loloma effect with either lapis lazuli or that violet stone he uses, charoite. Do you know any sellers who would sell and cut the stone to the exact shape I want? I have never commissioned a stone so have no idea how one goes about it. Would it be on Ebay or Etsy?

Thanks!

I'm a bit confused. Are you wanting to buy a piece of lapiz and that will go alongside the coral? If yes, wait until you get the ring and then measure the setting. You can pick up lapiz really cheaply and in standard sizes so don't go down the route of having something cut if you don't have to. The one thing I would say is that the depth may be an issue. What sort of basket does the ring have that you want to fill?

Thanks! Just worried the shape might be awkward - looks like an elongated shape with two prongs. Not sure if I have to ask a jeweller to set it...

I absolutely love lapis! Good choice! Just bought my aunt some lapis earrings for Christmas because she loves it too. It is so beautiful.

I bought mine on Etsy and then sent it to a different Etsy seller for wire wrapping. I will see if I can find the name of the aeller.
