Where to find a smaller Santa Maria pear shaped aqua?

My first baby was born a few days ago. I was planning on celebrating with a small purchase but labor and delivery went sideways and was traumatic so I’m thinking about doing something a little more expensive as a gift to myself to mark that insane experience.

I know Africa gems but wanted to see what else was available. I don’t know exactly what size I want, but I’ll be a pendant so not huge. I reached out to a couple IG vendors too but it’s been crickets.

Other PSers will be along with some great ideas, I'm sure. But I just wanted to say big congrats on your new wee one!!

P.S. Definitely take a look at Etsy... just a brief search brought up lots of pear shapes in different sizes. Good luck!

I haven’t bought from this company but they seem to have a large stock of aqua. I asked for a quote for a Santa Maria stone and they were very quick to reply on IG ($600 per carat).

Congratulations on the new baby! You definitely need a reward for all the effort.

I cannot imagine what your experience was like, but at least it is over now. Congrats on the baby!

If you don't want to buy from IG, you can contact Starlanka who have reasonable pricing, offer a variety of lab reports for an additional fee, and 14 day money back return policy. Their only Santa Maria colored ones are very large, but maybe they could source a smaller one.
Haven't used them but I expect to in the future. Contacting them via IG is much more effective than via their site system.

This site also has some nice aquas, but I noticed a lot of their inventory is the same as Starlanka's with a markup. And they have bad return policy (only return if there was a cataloguing mistake), so I personally wouldn't buy from them.
Still, here's a nice one:

I’ve never bought from him but this guy always has the most amazing aquas. https://instagram.com/charlesyuan9?utm_medium=copy_link

I know right? :kiss2:

Thank you all! Checked on PS since I had a few free minutes but I’ll come back to really look at all the options!

I too came across some aquas by @atlanta.gems apparently Santa Maria in origin as well as color
they sell on gemrockauctions too so you can pay through cc/paypal for extra protection

Sweet! Thank you, I’ll go look!

Have an idea and am prob going in that direction. It’s hard to think when you’re exhausted from a newborn schedule. Thank you all!

I contacted her! That’s very pretty! I wish it were YG instead but I might just buy it if the price is right. Thank you!

For a pendant you could always get it dipped yellow with a new chain. It would take decades to wear off. Not like a ring. Although I say that because here it costs nothing to do that. It might be more expensive than it’s worth elsewhere.

I’m no help on the aqua front but just wanted to say you’re a stronger woman than me for being able to think about jewellery with a newborn! I think I took about three months to be able to think coherently about even life basics, what with the tiredness and shock!

Just to show colour preferences are very personal, in that the so-called Santa Maria coloured Aquamarines do not do a lot for me!

I prefer my Aquas pale with a hint of green.

@winnietucker congratulations and I hope you could find a nice Aqua to mark your new arrival soon!

I don’t know if this was mentioned above, but be very careful who you buy darker toned aqua from. Some material is irradiated, and can fade in tone over time. I don’t think it’s detectable treatment either, so only but from a dealer that knows their rough source very well.

I don't have sources, but I want to congratulate you on a hard won victory. Birth is nothing to sniff at. You made it through. Welcome to the insanity.
Happy belated Birthday to the wee nib.8) giphy (26).gif
I hope you find something spectacular.

@lonysis It’s prices a little too high to not be 100% what I want for this particular project. After thinking about it more I think custom is the way to go.

@lissyflo This is how I’m keeping my sanity. The sleep deprivation is unreal.

@dk168 @ItsMainelyYou Thank you!

@T L Good to know! I assumed they were treated but didn’t realize it wasn’t stable. Thank you.

Yes, it is called Maxixe beryl. Naturally irradiated deep blue in the ground but once removed and exposed to sunlight will fade.

Want to know more?

I think some is artificially irradiated to. I bought one, it faded over time to almost goshenite.

omg that's awful! I kind of thought that the SM color was too good to be true (but I also prefer the more watered down classical aquamarine look myself).
