Hi! I am searching for a replacement oec diamond for an antique Victorian buckle ring I recently aquired. The ring is a fabulous antique piece in great condition from 1876. Unfortunately, the diamond popped out when I was cleaning it and I lost it! :cry2: I was wondering if anyone had any good sources for Old European Cut melee?? The stone I am seeking would need to be around 1.8mm in size. Many thanks if anyone has ideas!

Maybe this could help?

I hope someday to create a piece that includes Yoram‘s gorgeous stones!

I believe single cut melee are used for vintage settings. Here's a thread you might find helpful.

if I wanted entertainment and the thrill of seeking - I’d check local jewelers who had their own in house benches - I’d want to see the little buggers in person to match/coordinate with the rest I have. Especially if it’s an OEC. i think it’s easier to match single cuts.

i dont think I’d spend time and money bringing in /sending back 1.8mm from vendors to see what I could find match. And probably the only ones you’d get to do this are ones you have a previous history with. Maybe a coin toss if they would.

easy button choice would be having the antique work proven vendor who was doing the setting work source and match it for me.

Hi all,
Thanks for your suggestions!
I went with DavidJThomasJewelers on Etsy. I have worked with Dave before and when I reached out he found the perfect 1.8mm OEC diamond for my antique repair! I didn't expect him to find this oddball size so quickly, but he did.
When I get the chance to have the repair done, I will make sure they check the other two tiny (rubies) to make sure all is sound. I am relieved that my antique piece can be restored with a stone from its same time period (late 1800s).
Again, thanks for these suggestions!

May we see a picture please?

Unfortunately, I don't have any great pics of it. I do have these....
One is the vendor photo and the other is on my hand.

Please excuse the green paraiba tourmaline that is resting loose on my hand - but that is the antique buckle ring on my finger before the stone fell out.
