Where would you send a ring that you want to know specs on and possibly even get a certificate for it? Nothing glamorous, just a basic 5 stone band, unbranded!

A local appraiser can offer those details.

I'm in the USA, i don't have the option to take it a local appraiser, otherwise, I would!!

There are no appraisers near you? Did you buy the ring brand new with any accompanying information on the diamonds? An appraiser will give you an appraisal but not a certificate. Labs won’t grade set stones and I doubt you would want to remove the diamonds just to have GIA grade them. Perhaps one of the appraisers mentioned here on PS would let you mail the ring to them for an appraisal?

There are no appraisers in my state either (Michigan). Please double check me but David Atlas in TX and Neil Beaty in CO have been used and recommended by others.

Dave is near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - both are excellent choices!

What "specs" do you want to know? An appraiser will generally not give you cut quality. And if the diamonds are eye-clean and colorless-appearing and you are not planning to advertise it for sale or insure it, there is little value to an appraisal, imo.

A "certificate" is not useful unless it is a report from a reputable and widely-recognized lab like GIA or AGL. I have seen countless certificates from GIA -- wait, I mean from a "GIA Graduate Gemologist." That is an entirely different thing.

I'm amazed that there are no appraisers near you but maybe that's for the best. I think even the feed store would offer do that for you.

Most Jewelers will also do appraisals though how accurate relative to GIA is another matter.
