Hello, (I posted this twice)I have never posted anything here, I am not quite sure I am even under the correct post. However I do have a question if anyone knows, or any suggestions. I want to have a wedding in Southern Ca. at a beach, does anyone know if you can have a wedding at the beach without a coordinator since it is public property and just do the catering and rental of chairs and tables your self?

thank you-

I''m pretty sure you have to get a permit for that sort of gathering at the very least. Which city/beach are you considering?

There are certain restrictions on different beaches. I think it would depend on how many guests you have, noise (ie: band, recorded music, PA system) and are you doing the reception on the beach as well... alcohol is allowed on some, but not all. I would call the parks, beaches, and recreations dept of whichever city you are looking into. I have attended a very small wedding on Venice Beach and have seen several weddings on the cliffs of Corona del Mar. I also believe that people have small ceremonies on the cliffs overlooking the ocean in Laguna Beach near Las Brisas. If you give us some more info on your wedding, maybe we can help more. I believe that Huntington Beach and Dockweiller state beach have less stringent rules on alcohol and music than others. I could be wrong.
Good Luck!

Thank you guys, I am unsure of what beach. I think I will look into huntington as i have also heard that there are less restrictions. I think I want to just have the ceremony at the beach and find a hotel nearby for the reception. But I want to bring my own alcohol, which may serve as a problem in some places. If anyone has any suggestions from previous experience. I don''t know where to start, or even reasonable prices. Thank you again!

There is a Hilton Hotel that your guests could walk to from the beach in Huntington.

Here is the link: http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=HUBWHHF

I went to a sorority party there in college which was a few years ago, but as I remember

... it was nice.

Regarding bringing in your own alcohol, you''d have to call them about that. Usually restaurants charge a corkage fee when you bring your own which ends up being just as expensive as buying from them. They have that in place because they lose a lot of money if someone brings it in. Alcohol markups can be 300% in some places.

I would be curious to know if you find a place to byob. My guess is that unless you are renting a venue that doesn''t normally provide catering or beverage, you might be out of luck.

Keep us updated!

hi, i''m in san diego, and i''ve heard of a place here called the del mar powerhouse that you can rent out for your wedding and i''m pretty sure you can bring your own alcohol. it is RIGHT on the water in del mar, on one of the most beautiful beaches in the area.

if you go to this link you can see a shot of the powerhouse and beach from far away:
