Which diamond should I purchase

I have narrowed my diamond selection to the following two and both are reserved. I'm debating if I should save some money to apply to the actual ring and get the color grade of H over I with the 1.76 carat or just get the 2 carat. I don't know if I would even notice the color difference between the two. They both are ideal cut but not sure if one is better cut than the other.

Which is the better diamond or are they both very comparable? Which one would you choose? Thanks for any replies

Option 1:

Option 2:

Not sure which is more important to you - size or color? I would take the 2 carat diamond and would choose to purchase from Whiteflash all day. Their diamonds are vetted above and beyond the AGS designation and they have a great upgrade policy. James Allen will require you to spend much more than $1 to upgrade. On top of that, their customer service is just wonderful!

What are your thoughts?

The 2 carat ACA gets my vote

Please don’t buy any the 1.76. Though this is an AGS 0, the ASET is nowhere near ideal.

@DejaWiz @Kim N @tyty333 how did this stone get an AGS0?

Is the issue the 43.1% pavilion angle @Karl_K ?

I'd pick the 2 carat without question.

It still passed the light performance tests even without perfect light return. As we've seen often, AGS0 is not as stringent as the super ideal cut vendors' criteria. Here's another example of an AGS0 with light leakage.

As @Kim N said: the proportions and angles meet the criteria for AGS 000, as well as the amount of crown digging and pavilion painting... unfortunately, the amount of acceptable painting and digging that AGS allowed is enough to cause a hit to the overall beauty of the 1.76 diamond.

I ended up going with the 2 carat whiteflash diamond and canceled the other. Wired the money so good to go.

One last question. I did see this 1.52 carat diamond on whiteflash that has a F color. I'm putting the diamond in a white gold setting. Would it make sense to switch to a smaller better color diamond or am I overthinking it and stay with the 2 carat I colored diamond as I probably will never notice the difference. Just making sure I do all my DD. Thanks

I think you'll be perfectly fine with the I color in a WG setting...if it's too warm for your color sensitivity or tolerance, then WF will take care of you with either an exchange in the return window or a future upgrade for $0+ the original purchase price.

Tbh that’s a question to ask your girlfriend. Colour tolerance is a very personal question. For me, I would vastly prefer the 2ct I over 1.5ct F. Someone else might not agree.

Imo I is a pretty safe colour to go with, so I would be okay sticking to I for a WG setting.

@thegauntlet here’s a visual to help you-sorry for the low res. The mobile version doesn’t allow a side by side comp.

The 2.036 ct I is going to look beautiful in white gold. The visual difference between the F and the I is sizable.

I would also pick the 2ct I over the 1.5 F.

I'd pick the 1.5ct over the 2ct, but that's because I'm not a flashy person and every time I try on anything bigger than 1.5ct I go "whoaaaaa that is wayyyyyy tooooo big" hehe :) and I also prefer higher colour MRB's.

Have you gone looking with the intended recipient and narrowed down her size and/or colour preference?

yes, without giving away too much I did discuss the 1.5 F vs 2 I and sent side pics. She chose the 2 I. So I feel good about the decision.

since it is sold I cant tell but what was the price difference between the two. Was the 2ct cheaper?

I am also look at similar specs.

The 2ct was slightly more but not much, all things considered. It was 24100 or so for the wire price. Good luck in your search.

For me cut is king.

That's only the first reason I'd buy the WF ACA.
The other reasons have already been covered by my comrades. ;-)
