If you provide your budget and minimums the lovely folks here can find the best diamond for you!
Are you dead set on blue Nile?

Thank you for your response.

My budget 10.000 euro.
minimums: I would prefer a diamond as large as possible without really compromising on the visible eye quality. For me it's important that I feel I did a good deal, so not overpaying it.

Doesn't have to be blue nile per se. E.g i was also looking at vanamsteldiamant.

I don't like the proportions of any of those three that they recommended.

Have a look at these:

thanks for the fast reply
your suggestions are a little above my budget. what would you recommend that is a little cheaper so I stay in the 10.000 euro budget (including ring)?

I apologize! I misread/misunderstood your previous post - I thought your budget was for the diamond, alone.

Thank you for the suggestions.
Dejawiz, why you prefer the first over the second?

I prefer the measurements of the CA and PA angles, the table width, and the LGF's. Plus, there are no inclusions under the table.

and what do you think about the ring itself? the diamonds on it are not well specified. Is that usual? I saw a similar ring on vanamstel with more carats for approximately the same price. Or am I making the wrong conclusion here?ring.pngring.png

One would have to be very very careful when wearing that ring or spend most of their time sending it out for repair due to the amount of pave. If the metal parts are what hold the ring together, you've compromised a lot of the structural integrity.

What would be a better ring? I'm looking for something classic.

Of the two you've selected, I prefer the first. Of the pave solitaires on BN, I prefer the following:

I would recommend browsing the recently purchased to see how the size diamonds pair with the size band.

The blue nile settings are much better than the other one you linked. They will have higher quality diamonds, and will be less prone to having stones fall out, etc.

The description states that the melee diamonds are F-G color and VS clarity. Whether or not this claim comes from a reputable independent lab or in-house grading is up for debate and interpretation.

If you like this Vanamstel Diamant setting better, then it may be worth it to get it.

If you are on the fence, then perhaps consider one of the Blue Nile settings to make a package deal out of it and get their warranty and service for the whole thing.

I have the petite micropave from blue nile and have worn it every day for 3.5 years, working out, cleaning, not babying it at all, and have had no problems! I have 6 prongs on mine, and while i don't love how bulky the prongs are, its not terrible with a larger sized diamond (1.7 for me)
