Romona Keveza vs. Pronovias....

The Romona

(sorry trying to get the photo to work....)

Any advice on how to get the picture small enough to post but big enough to see? Thanks!

could you just post a link to the website?

Good plan!

Legends by RK:

This is in a lightweight silk shantung, perfect for my outdoor country wedding. Madly in love with this one but it is 2x more than the other, which makes the decision harder.

Pronovias:

This one would be purchased off the rack, because it fit me perfectly and there isn''t enough time to order (it is a brand new sample), but which makes me a little nervous for some reason. I love it but it is heavier, tighter, and more formal than the RK.

Shape wise, they look quite similar on me (slight A-line silhouette), so it''s a style issue, not a fit issue.

What do you ladies think?? Thank you!

To me, those two dresses are such different looks. I like the RK better but if price is the issue, have you exhausted all your shopping options?

I love the pronovias-I think it''s so pretty and it would look fab!

I know, they''re totally different, but I loved them both and they both looked the best on me out of the eight million dresses I tried on. My favorite is the RK because it is perfect for the occasion and just so...darling, but I have some guilt over asking my parents to pay so much for a gown, especially when the Pronovias is so beautiful and looked so lovely on.

I think the Pronovias is a lovely dress and if it fits you well, I don''t know if double the price for the other dress is worth it. Sorry, I am no help. I think both dresses are great.

I adore the RK. It''s on my list of favorite dresses!

My person at the bridal shop called and said she''d mixed up which design I liked (they looked very close!)...it wasn''t the Pronovias above, but this San Patrick:

Does that change anything?

Thanks everyone for your opinions!

I like the San Patrick "Bahamas" for an outdoor wedding. The lace and scalloped edging has a fresh, breezy feel to it. The RK feels more formal to me, probably because of the knife-pleat ruffles around the edge.

My personal preference is for the Pronovias, even disregarding the price difference (to me the Pro. actually looks more expensive). I'm a sucker for that lacy look, it's similar to the dress I found for my wedding.

ETA: responded before I read all the posts (bad BriBee!

) LOVE the San Patrick! (see above

) In fact, I like it more than the Pronovias!

Ditto BriBee - I adore the San Patrick. I just think its a prettier, more "bridal" look, and very classic (I adore lace on bridal gowns - I think its just so timeless).

I agree that the San Patrick is more outdoorsy, the RK is definitely more formal. Not sure if you already saw this, but FacetFire is wearing that exact RK!!

I have to say the build of the RK does not look like it would be very flattering to most people and even if it is not heavy, it looks heavy. Neither of these factors says beautiful beach bride to me. I also love the San Patrick and even without the price difference issue, it is still my favorite.

I agree with brazen. #1 looks like you would see every bump and stuff. I probably won''t feel very comfortable in that dress (but maybe you''re blessed with great body shapes

).

But even then, I love the pronovias more. Just beautiful by itself. #1 looks nice with the veil, but without it it might look a little less bridal and looses it''s charm.

I think the dress is not translating in the photo. It''s actually a very lightweight silk shantung, so rather than being heavy it was the lighest and breeziest dress I tried on! It also wasn''t very formal, because of the material I think.

I wish I could have taken a picture with it on!

Does anyone know what the difference between San Patrick and Pronovias is?

I found the San Patrick Bahamas dress on the weekend and loved it... but then realized I had seen it somewhere before. One of my friends got married in September and her dress was almost identical! She said hers was a Pronovias.

When I looked up the website for each designer... they were almost exactly the same, and the mailing addresses for both the US and Spain were the same.

Are they different? Or am I about to buy the exact same dress (which I really don''t want to do.)

I vote for the RK! It is so different and I love the ruffles! I actually think that it has a bit of that rustic feel to it that would make it great for an outdoor wedding. Plus, its the one you love the most. If you buy the San Patrick will you still think about the RK..(i.e. end up buying it later) or will you congratulate yourself for staying in budget? Thats what you have to ask yourself.

Honestly, I really like the Pronovias and I think it would look great for an outdoor wedding!
No pics of you in them?

Ditto. I prefer it as well.

The RK gown is lovely but for an outdoor wedding I really like the lacey detail on the other dress. Particularly since you said you''re having an outdoor country wedding. Somehow lacier dresses look more like what you''re describing to me. It all depends on how they look on you too, if both look equally good then hrmm. I agree with brazen on the fact that the RK does look heavy. I keep thinking of another post on here with a similar dress, that had a larger train that was actually a heavy dress.

I also think that KSPrincess is right... if you LOVE one dress more than the other you''ll think of that one. But if it''s a hardship to pay that much for one day of wearing it, then you may want to re-consider or maybe look at other dresses as well. I saw dresses that were very pretty but out of the budget we''d set and basically I just keep looking at all dresses within my price range until I found the exact one I wanted. I was VERY tempted to spend up to 2k more on a dress but there were so many in my range that looked lovely that I just couldn''t justify having to cut funds in another part of my wedding for it.

As far as i know St. Patrick is more affordable than Pronovias, on some dresses. I think... or I have that backwards. I think that''s right though. They are the same company though. It''s just another brand/designer, like Manuel Mota or others.
