I'm getting a ring inspired by this SS one made by ERD, only with split claw prongs rather than a bezel (no octagon halo as it was overpowering).

I like this look of a dainty non matching band paired with an antique ring.

Which band would you choose and why?

1) twisty band with milgrain and diamond accents. If I'm seeing correctly, this is the band worn in my inspiration pic.

This shows the delicate milgrain.

2) geometric repeating band

3) simple pave band

I like 2>3>1 -- but they're all very nice!!

Number 2 for me!!

Two too!

#1 is very pretty. Different!

I love 2 as well but wonder if the lines have to be more curvy like 1 to complement the ering. 3 is safest.

What about something like these?

I love the simplicity of number 1 because of the very intricate design of your e ring, but number 2 is gorgeous as well. SS designs are amazing ( I contacted them first and they were SO far out of my setting budget way more than any of the other vendors I contacted)..so excited for your ERD version! I think you are truly designing such a classic look that will never go out of style! I would just have ERD make the band as well personally.

I need to see the final ring from SS before I can make a call. But without seeing it, #3 bec it will go with anything.

Love 1. Wish I could just try them on.
Yes that's the plan!! My wedding band is just not going to work with it as it's 2 mm and has a notch in it and curve to it. But what do I expect given it's a whole other ring? Saying that, my preference is to wear my wedding band so will see how the ring turns out and decide then. I'm hoping it will look amazing with it.

they can probably show you a CAD design next to the design of your e ring once that's done right? I just posted a similar thread to this in SMTB because I am not sure uf my current eternity band with work with my new ring. Once the e ring is done, I think you will get a much better sense of what might work!!

Yup good point Ame. Love the simplicity of 3.

Artdeco that's true, I just don't want them to design a band until I get a sense of what it will look like first. Technically I'm already on the third ering design! First was the split claw pave splitaire, then the octogon halo on a thin shank, now the SS design, I'd like to decide on the band style then let then ask them to design, but I guess once the ering cads are in they still have to make the ering so I can decide on the band then.

My wedding band looks like this. Hmmm maybe it will work! http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=2623

I saw your other post and loved all the bands, especially the French cuts!

They are all gorgeous and I love your ER setting.
Personally I need to see each band next to your ER. I have a difficult time visualizing it any other way but independently I think they are all beautiful and probably would look smashing with your ER and I agree that your third choice would probably go very well but so might the other choices. I need to see them each with the ER though to be sure. A fun issue to resolve- enjoy!

Number one!

All of the options are gorgeous but I love number 1! Really different and very pretty

Number 1 gets my vote.

I would wait. After you have your ring. Try things on with it. There is no other way.

+1 (and I'll be very interested to see ERD's version because that SS shank is one of my very favorites!)

I love band #1! Who makes that ring - is it SS?

Yup the first three are SS.

Do you think AD's idea of CAD-ing the wedding band would work? To see how they'd look together? You know I think you're right. I may end up wasting ERD's resources. Will wait til ering s in hands.

Sorry if you misunderstood, I meant after your ERD ring is completed, maybe they can show you some CAD designs next to it. For me, I never was able to visit any of the places like single stone in person so I never was able to try I bands with any of my e rings (yes I had reset more than once- eek). It worked for me, but if you are able to try on some if those unique rings in person then of course that's ideal! I thought all of your shopping would be done online but I must've been mistaken- oops!!

Oh I did misunderstand! My bad, AD. Yeah I can't visit SS so that makes total sense. I'll probably try on similar rings in Canada and gauge the designs that way.

Number 2 is stunning and would suit well with the e-ring

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their input and I decided to get number 1 made. It's pretty and lacy, matching yet not matching. Kinda matches in the sense that it's not continuous diamonds beside each other like the other pave bands, but more gold then diamond, gold then diamond... These are the rings in rose gold but you get the jist of it....thanks again!!

Are you going to have this made before actually getting your new ering?

I thought all of your options were lovely, but after seeing Gypsy's advice and your last post, I thought it was really smart for you to wait and get your ering before proceeding w/ the wedding band design.

Yup plus 1 to that! I always had a vision of how I wanted my rings to look but once I reset my bands didn't work at all. I know I wish I had waited till I got to try on a few styles! Regardless I think your ring and all the bands you chose are lovely!

I'm convinced that wedding bands and e rings just aren't made to be worn on the same finger. Leon's article first got me thinking about the scratching, then he mentioned how they visibly merge into one thick shank making both rings look less attractive. The stacking rings trend (for fashion jewelry) is mainly for super thin rings. I rarely see wedding sets on PS that I like and people here give it much more thought. It only looks right to my eye when there is a super big diamond like 2 plus carats, and a super thin ring, with a gap, like the ring I posted above.

My old wedding set was one of those matching shank sets...fit together like a puzzle piece, thus the notch in my band. Very sentimental to me but not as spectacular worn on its own. I want them the rings two relate in tone and feel, so the ering doesn't look like more of a RHRing, but not look like a puzzle-piece set.

So I'm sticking to wearing my wedding band on left and ering on right. This curvy band is more of a second option to wedding band.

Thanks for your thoughts though.

Oh!!!! Okay, now I totally get your vision redroze, so I'm sorry if I'm a little slow ... duh :)). I can't imagine wearing my rings separately HOWEVER I love the idea of being able to, and I think the flexibility that you're seeking is very smart.

I'm gonna go check out your CAD threads and see what you and your jeweler are coming up with!

Lol Roxy. :) So....I've been test driving a fake ering on my right hand, and guess what. I've been banging it all around like mad. So...although I may wear them split sometimes for a different look, I'd like the option to also wear them stacked on my left hand other days. Perhaps even most days. And I'm going to take a chance and have ERD do a band via CADs alone, as I discovered there are no SS dealers in Canada. Which is probably for the best as I would probably just live there, as my second home. Plus I could tweak the ring so the shank and style all works with my ering, via CAD.
