Which gems do you have and which gems are on your wish list?

I'm only listing the ones I have that are already set in jewelry or nice enough that I might set them in jewelry (Sorry, I'm away from home right now so I can't take any pics):

Chrysoprase
Diamond- mined and lab
Garnet- spessartine and a pair of mali
Pearl- white and lavender freshwater, golden and white south sea, Tahitian.
Opal
Peridot
Tourmaline- seafoam
Zircon- blue

Aquamarine and yellow zircon are high on my current wish list but I tend to "grab it when I see it" more than stick to a plan.

These are all on my long term wish list:
cornflower blue sapphire (sapphire is my dh's birthstone)
hot pink sapphire
purple sapphire
amethyst (maybe that's redundant with the purple sapphire?)
aquamarine (my sister's birthstone)
I have lately decided I would love a big citrine ring in a collet setting
I have a Welo opal, but would love a white opal and maybe a black opal
a big moonstone cab
a juicy emerald cab
more turquoise!!

A Paraiba cabochon and a Mahenge Spinel.

DK :))

I'm probably never going to stop lusting after that velvety blue that never goes dark in a sapphire. So that one's still on the list.

But aside from that, I think I'm starting to gravitate more towards cabs. I'm thinking a star sapphire. And I'm also binging on Black Opal Direct's youtube channel, so an opal is also not out of the question.

I have many many gemstones but I still often search for a big blue zircon and I’d also love a good size Paraiba but the price of these is eye watering, really eye watering. I’ve often admired star sapphires too but again it’s hard to find the one that makes your heart sing.

In theory, I should not need a Mahenge Garnet as I have one sold to me as a Mahenge Garnet.

However, in real life, its colour falls short on being a vibrant red that I had anticipated, vendor's photo:

Don't think I had posted a photo of the finished ring as I was disappointed with the stone.

In my early days of PS (around 10 years ago) I came across a zircon set as a solitaire in art deco setting. It was 11mm by 11mm but I didn't know enough or feel confident enough to buy it at auction. It sold for £800. If I came across it again today I would buy it in a heartbeat. I ended up with a smaller 8*10 zircon that I love, it's just the right shade of blue. But the zircon in the art deco setting will forever the one that got away.

This forum oftentimes has such impossible standards (which, I'll admit, is how it should be). So while she may not be "neon," most folks would love to own such a beautiful stone. Please show us the ring!!

ETA: I just realized this is a garnet and not a spinel... that is about as vivid a pink/red garnet as I've ever seen!

I have collected all the gems on my list. Or, at least, that's what I'm telling myself (please, self). I want to concentrate on setting them now!

That is so hard isn't it. Just when you think you should put the money into setting your gems another lovely gem shows up and you think "just one more". Lol

It's so true... I think when you're a "collector" (read: obsessive-compulsive), you're never really "done." My biggest issue is upgrading. So it's not that I want new varieties of gem, per se, but I want to keep bettering those I already have/love. However, I think I've finally reached the upper limits of what I can afford in that respect. In other words, my pocketbook has decided I'm done for me.

I have made a mistake - it is a Spinel and not a Garnet!

I wear the ring often, however, the colour of the stone does not thrill me, that's all.

I shall take and post a photo of the ring later.

I thought she was rather effervescent for a garnet! But either way, it's a lovely stone, and it sounds like you enjoy it. I look forward to the unveiling! :appl:

I love blue zircon and to that end would love antique blue zircon OEC earrings. But I think that's a needle in a haystack

Have:
Blue sapphires, purple sapphires, star sapphires in several colors, rubies (only small ones), lime-yellow chrysoberyl, cats-eye chrysoberyl, aquamarine, moonstone, amethyst, most of the garnets (I might be missing hessonite), emerald, trapiche emerald, golden beryl/heliodor, iolite, various opals, various kinds of quartz (onyx, agate, carnelian, citrine, amethyst...), jade, lapis, malachite, coral, pearls, mother of pearl, shell cameos...what am I forgetting? Diamonds.

Missing:
Vanadium chrysoberyl. Sharp, translucent, red red red star ruby. 12-arm star sapphire. Tanzanite. Nice-size overblue diamond. (I have one, but it's like .3 ct.) Fancy color diamond--maybe brown. Alexandrite.
