Hello diamond experts

I'm trying to pick between these two ovals for an engagement ring. They're both 1.6 carats, E colour, similar clarity.

Which one do you think has a better cut and why? Thank you!

Note -
They both have excellent symmetry and polish, but the facets look quite different in the photos!

The first one (darker grey background) has the following specs (DIAMOND A)

Measurements9.58x6.75x4.09
Ratio1.42
Depth4.09%
Table58%
Crown Angle32.8°
Crown Height13.5%
Pavilion Angle40.4°
Pavilion Depth44.5%

The second one (lighter grey background) has the following specs (DIAMOND B)

Measurements9.39x6.53x4.15
Ratio1.44
Depth4.15%
Table58.5%
Crown Angle36.4°
Crown Height15%

THere's ZERO possibility of getting an accurate answer based on the info provided.
Stones like this really need to be evaluated in person....
Second of all....Oval Brillant, as a cut, will necessarily have different size flashes and reflections in the middle of the stone- as opposed to the ends....
Is that a "bow tie"?
In bad cases, the center is dark- in best cases, it will have a bit of darkness when it's not flashing bright....

I see @Rockdiamond - I didn't realise photos wouldn't be enough. I managed to find 360 videos for these. Do these help?
Which one would you recommend based on the videos?
Thank you!

AS a seller of diamonds, I'm prohibited from making any specific stone reccomendations. So I can't:)
But I can say, in general terms- the entire subject of ovals and bowties is a bit....confusing and difficult for both consumers and sellers.
As I wrote- there's going t be a difference in light performance between the center, and tips of even the best cut oval brilliant.
If a consumer- or a dealer- is uber sensitive, they can easily feel like a not bad bowtie is a bad one.....

Not an oval expert here by any means, but I always have an opinion, lol. I prefer Diamond A for sure. It has great light return across the whole stone and I don't see any bow tie or darkness across the midline like I do in Diamond B.

Just got done viewing the videos and I agree - diamond A appears to be the better choice, in my opinion.

From the video, I agree with the above that diamond A looks better. I see bow-tie and darkness in the center of diamond B. It says in your table summarizing the stats that the depth is 4 odd % on these diamonds though which I'm not entirely understanding because recommended depth is usually in the 60s % for oval.

Here are some resources on selecting oval diamonds including recommended proportions that might help:

Bryan also has a very awesome write-up on oval diamonds:

Are these your only options?

Any guide with a set of specs is, by its very nature, misleading.
IN fairness, Bryan's ( WF) page is really good.
Although I completely disagree with publishing any sort of chart, Bryan's chart was immediately followed by a statement highlighting the limitations of charts.....

Completely agree - going for a round like everyone else would have been much easier but an oval is the one shape we both really liked

You're right - how odd. I think that must be a mistake in the charts they've provided. Looking at the certificates, both stones do seem to be in the 59 - 63% depth range that's recommended in the articles (albeit the dimensions have come with a warning).
Thank you for sharing the articles - very useful!

Do you think both are bad choices? There was another one I was considering which is in my price range which is Option C (it's a similar size/colour/clarity so mostly about the cut)

DIAMOND C: https://loupe360.com/diamond/LG464190202/video/500/500

Feels like Diamond A is the winner when it comes to A vs B - thank you everyone. Though I've thrown in Diamond C into the mix in case, since you asked @tyty333
