Been looking for a 2.25-2.75 ct cushion cut sapphire that is royal bright vivid blue for a setting I''ve been eyeing for 3 years. Finally saved up some pennies to get my stone. Found these two: left one is 2.49ct and right is 2.77ct. Still waiting for more info on the stones (location, treatment, measurements, etc) but told they are $1500/ct. Does this sound reasonable based on the stones? The left one is really what I was looking for. Gonna have them send it to see in person before I commit to it but anyone have any thoughts?

It is impossible to gauge without knowing treatments. Location might also make a price difference. Pictures would certainly help as well, but I think we would all rather wait until you have more info on these sapphires. BE sapphires can be a few dollars a carat, and a fine unheated sapphires can be thousands of dollars per carat. Treatments make a huge difference in price of sapphires.

Without knowing more about the stones (hue, saturation & tone, treatment, dimensions, and cut), it is impossible to say if the asking price is reasonable. Will the stones be accompanied by any lab memo proving provenance, treatment and quality of the colour?

the place I''m getting the stone from says they don''t certify for "small stones" (i''m looking at a 2.49ct and 2.77ct); i do know it''s heat treated and from Sri Lanka. They are mailing the 2.49 to me as I decided against the 2.77 b/c it was the wrong shape and the color was just off what i was looking for....this is what info I have on the stones:

"Both stones are from Sri Lanka. There isn''t a color grading system for colored stones like we have for diamonds. We base quality on the hue, saturation
and depth of color. Which these both have beautiful color. Both stones have an excellent cut symmetry and facet symmetry (as thought there is light flowing through it).
Both of these stone have color zoning...definate indicators that the stones are "natural". (Visible only with a loupe or microscope).
There is evidence of thermal treatment which is basically heat treatment. This is a very common treatment for sapphires in our industry, this is a permanent treatment that uses no chemicals,
this simply purifies and intensifies the color. Neither stone has a certificate as we usually don''t certify smaller stones, although, if you would like a certificate for this
I can send to GIA. This would cost about $200."

Still no picture so there is little to say.
Their sales pitch language is typically verbose and meaningless. "...facet symmetry, as though there is light flowing through it..." I certainly hope there is light flowing through it else it is opaque! Yet that has nothing to do with facet symmetry, nor facet symmetry with light flowing. And this flowing, does it go straight through or, does it turn around and come back out the front? This is a very important distinction. They say there is no grading system like for diamonds, then they state that they essentially grade by color, strength of color and some other dimension of color that seems murky and I just don''t understand. But then they ascribe their technical evaluation simply to say that it has beautiful color. Meaningless flowery drivel. "Thermal treatment which is basically heat treatment".. I mean like, duh! And your point is? "uses no chemicals..." They might as well say that no animals were harmed in the heating of this sapphire. They don''t certify smaller stones? 2.5 carats is not a smaller stone. Can you tell that so far I don''t feel comfortable with your vendor? And where are the pictures?
