I prefer the second because I think it is more elegant and more of a classic 3 stone if you will. But the first choice is more organic and has a certain appeal. There is no right or wrong answer however and it comes down to your personal aesthetics. One important factor is who will be making this ring for you? That will be critical in the aesthetics of the final piece with whichever choice you decide. Good luck.

Hi @missy, thank you!

I will have it made by Daniel M. I was just about ready to order #1 after much discussion with him and when on the site noticed #2 and think it is very pretty and so asked for a quote for that. There is about $100 difference between settings but DH has said either is okay. If I do #2, I will have the bezel made a bit thinner so my stone wouldn't look so massive and the whole thing will be more delicate (I assume).

I am just looking for what people think would work best with my stone and look the prettiest. I was hoping to poll a few people. It is a ring made from a stone I received after my grandma passed. I want green sides because green was her favorite color and I find that I do really like peridot colors and will offset it nicely.

I love that color combo. Blue and green can be amazing together. My birthstone is peridot and I love blue with green. If you want to do a poll you can redo this thread and to the upper right when you start a thread you can choose poll options. Or you can just do an informal poll here.

What a lovely piece with which to remember and honor your grandmother. Grandmothers are special people. ❤️

I like the 2nd one for a bigger stone like yours. Its classic and elegant

Thank you @missy! Sorry—the main stone will be purple. Those are his stock pics. Mine is round and faceted, not a cab, so it would change the look of the bezel one some. What did you mean by 'organic?' in the first setting?

Thanks lovedogs. Is it because the bezel would be huge?

Thanks for the help on the poll. We can just do an informal for now since it looks like it is too late for me to change the initial post.

the first one has more of a casual, bohemian (as missy said, organic) vibe to me, the second is a bit more streamlined and conventional look. i think it depends on what you will wear it with and how often you will wear it. the second setting probably is more versatile. both are pretty!

Thank you all so far! I would wear it frequently but not everyday and not for work, housework, etc.

No, not because the bezel would be huge, but more because I think the 2nd one is more classic and streamlined whereas the first one is more "bohemian". I love designs like the first one, but when I have purchased them I end up wearing them a lot at first and then they sit in my jewelry box and I reach for the more classic looks (which for me is a halo). Just my own personal preference.

2nd. Classic with smooth flowing lines that can be suited to both dressy and casual occasions.

#2 is what Daniel calls the trellis style, right? I feel like you missed the fact that the center stone in #2 is prong, not bezel set. I just want to point that out to you in case not having the center stone bezel set is a deal breaker for you. I personally actually prefer the prong look. Only the side stones in style #2 are bezeled.

Yes, sorry! I mixed them up when writing the post.

Think I am going with setting two. Saw some examples of others who had ordered it with colored sides in his “sold” pages. Love it.

I love the Boho look of number 1. I love that it’s NS set and I like the bezel and elegant sides. It will be a fun ring to wear and Suitable for everyday wear. Can you post a pic of your purple stone?

Ah, I did not see you Made your choice already. It will be gorgeous in either setting.

Hi @Acinom —no worries. I haven’t actually ordered yet—I am still a tiny bit on the fence though seeing some of the sold rings with the same setting with cs sides did sway me a bit more toward #2. Maybe I will ask if he has other pics of setting 1 with other stones. I think it might be a new setting though. :). I do like the look of #1. He said that he could bezel it with a bezel less than 1 mm — about .7 and I wondered if he could polish it up so it would be shiny silver instead of flat. I do wonder how that would look because it would be more delicate and flowy. Plus, i know he does good bezels and I don’t currently have any bezels. I really like that it looks a but unusual. But I am also drawn to the other because it seems more “classic” and I love the delicate double prongs. Either way on my birthday list is his sliding bezel necklace—in peridot. I got my mom one a year ago and was blown away by the quality of the bezel.

Mine won’t be EW or NS; it is a round and it is faceted not a cab.

Yes, here is a link to a thread on the stone. Full disclosure—I do not know if this stone is natural or synthetic. It does have some “stuff” inside when viewed through a loupe, however, and this week I did loupe my other amethyst and inside they look similar with similar cloud-like (? I am not sure how to describe what I saw) insides. Dh wants me to send it out to GIA because he is as curious as I am but with the labs closed it will probably need to wait until after I set it. I am going to set it either way because of the sentimental value of the stone.

Also—I took the video off vimeo so it no longer works.

The ring is done! I LOVE IT. Can’t wait to have it and wear it!! Thanks to those who assisted in choosing the setting and the advice. I would have liked either setting, but, this is a win!!

It’s gorgeous! The purple is so juicy and I love how it pairs with the green sides. :kiss2:
