Hello all,

I have been looking for my 5th year anniversary upgrade for 1-2 months and thanks for Pricescope I have learnt a lot of things about a super ideal diamond and found my dream diamond, a 2.06ct E super ideal diamond within my budget.

The actual picture and ASET scope are as follows:

I know for this upgrade I want a simple solitaire setting but I can't decide between the following two settings:

1. Thin tapered band with 6 prongs which makes the centre stone looks bigger

2. A classic Tiffany replica which I love but I do think the diamond looks more prominent in the 1st setting than this one.

Can you help me choose which setting between these 2 options? I can't choose

Thanks in advance!

I love the first one. Go with your gut! You seem to lean to #1, more. I can see why!

I would choose the first one, because your stone looks bigger in that setting.

Another vote for the first one, it looks spectacular! Congratulations on your fifth anniversary.

I prefer the thinner band. I just upgraded to 1.85 carats and went with a Tiffany inspired setting which has a soft knife edge, but had it customized to 1.8 mm. If you prefer the knife edge of the second setting, can they customize the width for you?

I prefer the first one as well. Beautiful upgrade, congratulations!

Thanks everyone! It seems the 1st option is the clear winner then :D

@Kaycee2018 yes they are able to customise the band width. In fact the one i tried on was not that wide but probably the bad angle made it looked wider than it is. Here is another angle of the Tiffany inspired setting. Do you mind posting yours so I know how a thin knife edge band look like?

I like the first one better. Beautiful diamond, do you mind sharing what's the ballpark amount quoted by JP for that rock? :)

Sure thing! The setting is from Adiamor (https://www.adiamor.com/Engagement-...ire-Engagement-Ring-Setting/14KWhiteGold/1870) and is typically 2 - 2.5 mm in width, described as being "slightly knife edged". I was also going for a simple/dainty look and had them to customize it to 1.8 mm (my diamond is 1.85 ct and 7.83 x 7.87 mm, for reference). I was trying to avoid a rounded band and I really happy with how it turned out....almost like the diamond is floating on my finger. Super light and comfortable and doesn't spin. Your diamond looks amazing, BTW! Congratulations!

NOTE: Edited to note that my ring is sized at 5.75 in order to accommodate my large knuckles. If it weren't for my knuckles, I'd probably be a 5.5.

Something else to consider along with the band width is the profile and alignment of the prongs, height, etc. Any preference there between the two?

#1

#1 is my winner as well!

#1 is my fave... but I'm biased in that my soli is a tapered knife edge. :)

So exciting for you.
I like Number 1 too, definitely :)

What a gorgeous upgrade!! Congratulations!
#1 for me, as well, but honestly they are both beautiful.

Wow
Your ring and the setting is beautiful! I love the really thin band. Maybe I should consider it as well Congrats on your upgrade too bte.
And the diamond looks big on your finger. Probably the really thin band makes your centre stone looks even more prominent.
Mine is a 8.16*8.20mm on size 4 finger.

Thank you so much everyobe for the input. I have confirmed with the jeweler that I'm going to go with their tapered band in platinum.

@Bonfire basically they are going to custom everything according to my specification. Since I have decided on the dainty tapered band, they will match it with 6 dainty prongs with claw like shape/pointy edges. Whereas if I choose the Tiffany style it'll follow the Tiffany rounded prongs.
And the diamond will sit very slightly higher than the Tiffany setting so I can see more of the pavillions if that makes sense.

I will upload the 3D design once it's available
