PLEASE SEE MY PREVIOUS POSTS FOR PICTURES OF THE STONE FROM GARY DUTTON.

sooo...i went to my local jeweler (who has a great reputation in the community) and he said he could get a white sapphire for me. he''s doing my ering so i felt like i should give him a chance to sell me a stone even though i already bought one from gary dutton. here''s the rundown on the stones.

one from local jeweler:
- 6x6mm princess cut
- completely colorless
- small inclusion under the loop but eye clean
- looks like you can see through an "X" where the princess cut is at the base (is this what they call a window?) - it''s quite prominent but not so much when i had him put it on a setting to see what it''d look like
- looks better in sunlight
- appeared more clear, as in like "gee, that water is really clear", than the other one

one from gary:
- 5.88x5.94 princess cut
- completely colorless
- looks like it has a silverish backtone compared to the other stone; it''s darker somehow but not with color if you know what i mean...
- looks better under inside lighting (at the shop - flourescent?)
- can''t see through it at all in any places

Now, my jeweler told me that his stone was a "true" princess cut. i looked at them both under the loop and his definitely looked better but i''m worried that the part that you can see though is actually bad.

Which stone, by description, do you think is the better stone?? they are both the same price....

thanks soooo much!!!!

The sapphire is for an e-ring, right? I think this is a very important piece of jewelry and you should pick what looks best to you. If it were me, I would keep arranging to see more stones in person to find the one that really stands out and makes my heart sing! Just my $0.02

I don''t like the see through part, although if the stone is tilted, it is normal to see through it. You shouldn''t be able to see though it if viewed straight down though. If you aren''t sure, I''d keep looking. When you find the right stone, there isn''t any doubt - you just know that THAT''s the stone. It should blow you away.

Chrono, again, you are so very helpful! it WAS only when the stone was tilted to the side that i could see through it. from the top it was magnificent. i think that i will choose that stone :) that is, if i don''t change my mind again, argh! i''m such an indecisive lady...
