Hello! I have a three stone WF ACAs that is divine. I am starting to work on a five stone band with 0.40 carat stones (2 ctw). I noticed that @mrs-b has a project where she is getting small stones one at a time from BN with strict WF type parameters for cut. For E colored stones it would be about $7k from WF but $5k from BN for the well cut stones (I’ve found three already). The difference is more than the cost of a platinum setting. Is this something only advanced PSers should do? At this size stone is it just a mind clean thing? I would love some opinions. I believe this is mostly a subjective decision but I would appreciate any objective thoughts as well. I don’t have any other diamond pieces, the only other thing I’m thinking of in the next couple of years is a 1 carat pendant and I believe I would choose an ACA for that. Thanks in advance!

Hello @FornasettiLover ! How's your gorgeous ring?

Let me tag a few of the expert prosumers here. I know that there are superideal cut parameters posted somewhere. @Kim N @DejaWiz @lovedogs could one of you please post the ideal angles percentages?

My personal preference:

Pavilion angle - 40.6-40.8°
Crown angle - 34.5-35.0°
Table width - 54-56%
Crown height - 15% or more
Overall depth - 61-62.5%
LGF - 75-77%
Stars - about 50%

If you scroll down to Member Recommended Proportions in DejaWiz's link, you'll see what PS members often recommend.

Here are Whiteflash's criteria for A Cut Above diamonds.

For a multi-stone project, I don't think it's necessary to be any stricter than either of these sets of parameters.

@lulu_ma , @DejaWiz , @Kim N Thank you! It sounds like y’all think this is a reasonable approach for smaller stones. As long as it will look cohesive and I don’t make myself a Frankenring I’d like to try this. Will the stones complement each other if they are within these parameters even if they aren’t identical?

I LOVE my ring and love wearing it. Every time I put it on I get the same happy feeling. I also absurdly enjoy cleaning it and keeping it at its sparkliest. Now I need something equally lovely for my right hand, hence this five stone!

For stones of that size I would not hesitate to choose from BN. Order it, and if it isn’t as sparkly as you want return it. No prob. Since you have ACAs you know beautiful when you see it so no worries.

I think if you keep the diameters and perhaps table sizes relatively consistent, they should look cohesive.

Your reassurance was exactly what I needed and I am so appreciative of you finding me some stones! It was so helpful to have you describe your thought process but also to know this new ring could be amazing. If I may, I’ll be tagging you about the setting as well. Your collection is so perfectly curated, I am hoping to keep my small collection cohesive as well! Thank you!

Thank you! I do love looking at my three stone, especially when walking the dogs on a sunny day! These new stones will surely have to live up to it. If I order a couple and they don’t, then returning them is a great option! Thank you for the reminder.
