Hello,
Does anyone have a faux-foil back ring from Dolly (xothebijouxbox) on Instagram?
I think sometimes she calls it a mirror back setting.
If so, can you share pictures of the back and the sides of it?
All of Dolly's pictures are face-up.
Thanks!!

I don't, but guessing it just has an ajour for cleaning. Fwiw, that setting type can help with shallow stones, but I typically prefer to not buy a shallow stone. Most shallow stones are compromise stones.

I don't either.

But, most antique rings have a solid back behind the foiled stones to protect the foil. The actual foil used is very thin and quite fragile. Foil backs tend to capture water and dirt and, over time, the stones get dingy. The only real way to clean a foiled ring is to remove the stones and clean them, then refoil.

I don't know many jewelers that can do this anymore, but Larkspur & Hawk is known for their modern foil-backed items. The handful of items of theirs I've seen, they all had solid backs.

Bump.... anyone?
