Who makes the more secure pave band?

Hi all, I've decided to go with a plain band for E-ring and will do a pave band for wedding. Do you have any knowledge as to whether James Allen or Whiteflash does this well - I have had a pave wedding band in the past, and the prongs needed tightening every other month and the diamonds were loose at least 2x a year. I know that's a risk with pave, but is there a certain prong style that is more secure than others?

Also, is shared prong less secure?

Here are the ones im considering. In yellow gold, my budget is also $1K.

also like the look of the james allen alternating stones or where it morphs itself around the round diamonds:

If you have any other insight over what I should get, that would be great. A lifetime replacement of diamonds that have fallen out obviously helps, and it think james allen might have that?

Thanks!

If you have had trouble with pave in the past, is it possible it's a wear issue? In what circumstances are you wearing the pave band? Would you consider getting a bezeled diamond band instead?

The last shared prong style needs a spacer to stop the chainsaw on your Ering.
Not for everyone but if you solder the bands together at the back the bands will be stronger - it is the bending and flexing that loosens the prongs or beads.

Hi! Im not a fan of the bezel look. I wore the half pave band as a wedding band right next to my engagement ring. I noticed today that the prongs on my engagement ring were slightly indented even though the band fits flush against my engagment ring, and again my half pave band had prongs that needed constant retightening too

Thanks! Is there a way to wear a pave wedding band next to an engagement ring, without a spacer or soldering? or is one of those absolutely necessary? Im starting to think it is. Maybe I should go for a non-pave wedding band, if that is the case, although its possible that could wear away at my engagement ring prongs as well?

Channel set would not need it. But that is not pave.

Any situation where the diamond girdles contact metal will cause wear.

We always advise soldering the rings together after having repaired so many that damaged each other.
But many people want to wear them separately.
Another big issue is fit.
If a ring is too big, it's gonna bend and the stones will be a poppin'!

Also -the finest pavé, costs the most, and is the easier to screw up......

you guys are definitely help make the case that i should wear an engagement band alone forever.. or just go plain gold on both (no pave)!

Bead set pave doesnt usually eat prongs because it almost always has side rails.

Thank you! it seems like plain gold against engagement ring wears down prongs as well, or is it just diamonds?

Anything will wear down anything it rubs against over time. It's something you just have to accept if you want to wear rings together without soldering them or getting a very low spacer. It's totally fine but it will happen.

My concern is that 14k gold is not generally a metal we'd recommend as durable for pave. And it is unlikely that any pave will last forever if you're wearing it all day every day. I don't know your wear habits, and getting just pave on the top half is a good start, but if you want it to last forever with no problems and heavy daily wear, those desires may just be incompatible.

I think the Whiteflash ones are probably better than the JA ones but I don't know for sure.

Thanks! Super helpful. I had heard 14k yellow gold is harder than 18k gold, is there a different preference for pave? i know i want my bands to be yellow.

I guess i will consider a spacer then. what size would you recommend and is a spacer basicsally just a plain ring that is super thin?
