Well after I upgraded my sister has decided to do the same. Here is the issue, she is going with a platinum upgrade butshe doesn''t want to stop wearing her original 14kt yellow gold 2mm band. Does anyone else wear their original band even though it doesn''t match.... She is all worried about it :) I told her to do it, the band is small but she wanted me to post a question Thanks, woobug

i think you can dip/plate the YG wedding band. or does she want to keep it YG?

I always say do whatever you want! So tell her not to worry and to do whatever is going to make her happy!!

And I know Woobug has asked this question before so she could share the info with her sister, but I wouldn''t rhodium plate the yg band.

People should do whatever makes them happy...they don't need approval from a diamond board to wear or not wear something!!!

Hi,

I can answer this problem for you. Upgrade your band to platinum. Don''t spoil the overall affect because of sentiment. It''s not a metal band that keeps your marriage together. it''s you and your partner.

Go for a plat band ! Do the job right !

best wishes dyanne

i have a 2mm 18K gold wedding band and will wear that band with any color metal, stone, etc. as long as it holds up. it is sentiment rather than ''looks'' that rule for me. i am very clear that no matter how i end up setting my spess in whatever color of metal i finally decide, i will be wearing my little 2mm ring!

i''ve also tried on many rings recently to see what color metal, style, etc. i am drawn to and my little band looks fantastic with them all. the hard part is knowing that my little band will over time wear through and i will no longer be able to wear it.........

My upgraded e-ring is platinum, and so is my original wedding band so I do wear them together, even though the styles don't match. In your sister's case, she could get a new e-ring that has some very subtle YG detail on it, like in the basket or something. That way, it could sort of match with the YG band.

Even if she gets an all-platinum e-ring, it'd be fine if she wore it with a YG band...I see people mixing metals on one finger all the time! There are no rules!

Thanks to all. I sent you the post and she feels better seeing that others are attached to their original bands. She liked the idea of a little gold on the upgraded er. It is funny how when one person in the group gets an upgrade then we all must :) WOOOO

I like the look of gold plat gold have a matching 2mm band soldered to the other side of the new e-ring and with the right design it would be kicken.
2mm is perfect for doing this.

SHAY, fabulous :) Your er sits beautifully on top of your band...... I also think the idea of the 2mm bands on each side is a great idea for her. Maybe she could plan that in her design...

I was think the SAME thing. Sandwich the new e-ring with two YG bands. Her wedding band and a second. It creates a two tone look and then if she ever decides to get a PLT one she can switch them around.

yes, i tried on platinum e-rings with my 2mm 18k band and put another 18K 2mm on the other side and it looked fab...also looked fab with a 2mm diamond eternity type band as the 3rd ring.

The Duchess of Cornwall wears her plat e-ring and yg wedding band together. It looks quite nice. Princess Di did the same thing. The wedding bands are always yellow Welsh gold. I personally am fond of the two tone look, I think strict matching can be overrrated.

MRSFRK, my sister about flipped when I told her about your info :) TOO NEAT! THANK YOU

I agree with the two-tone look, I think that looks gorgeous (and what I want to do for my set) and sentiment is the perfect reason for keeping things the way she wants them! Kudos to your sister for wanting to keep her wedding band the way it was given to her by her DH!
