was surfing around FayCullen and came across this puppy!

It''s monstrous!!! Look at the ''hand'' shot...huge. Is it my imagination or do the arrows seem pretty crisp and aligned in the face down closeup shot?? The color is very strong, but it''s so pretty.

Huh?

*grin* I guess I'm not in the 'know' Furthermore, I'm confoosed by this.

I think that ring is pretty though, but far too big for my hand.

You do't even find T to Z color grades (faint to light yellow, in other terms) all that often, but they are quite beautiful for quite a few people, including this person. But, what can I say, I also like them brown and (especially) gray! The T in question is a very light champagne (meaning brownish rather tha yellowish) and quite nice...

where can one go about finding "grey" diamonds? I have looked and looked, but to no avail. I would like a couple really small one's like .05 or so. darker grey the better. i hate the black diamond, but would like something that contrasts w. a regular.

At fancydiamonds.net there are three and I suspect you could inquire there about any kind of fancy colors with good chances of success... A couple of grayish-blues, quite small ( 10 pointers or so) are at adin.be. Both are great sources. A round is now listed at israel-diamonds.com. 'Fabcy gray' diamonds with good clarity appear to be rare: I am not sure if the rough is indeed rare or it just does not get to be faceted. These are really odd things!

About black diamonds: well, most I've came accross were so badly cut and muddy looking that I lost interest for a while. Better cut and poished pieces might be trated (irradiated?)but are all very cheap. If you like unusual black faceted stones how about black spinel? Those look like black diamonds should in theory and can be found in decent cuts. Personally, I do not know of too many other black or gray faceted stones, but gray spinel can be great (an unusual find though) and has deeper shades than gray diamonds most often have while still retaining good clarity. However, I have only seen a dozen or so gray diamonds, so I have no idea what shades are really available if you place specific inquiries with the above mentioned suppliers... Hope this works for you!

Mara, pretty good estimate. You only were off by 2.34 carats. Under the pic is the link to the article on the ring.

thanks for the links. the diamonds look alright...but how bad will the cut look next to an EightStar. hehe. If they are that hard to find, i doubt i can find any .05 with any kind of decent cut rate. does anyone bother cutting stones that small well?> just babbling on here, sorry.

i will check out the spinel, see what i can find out.

thanks again.

Heheee ! Never mind, Win. ;-)

It`s like blues and pinks and other fancies.... there ARE other blue and pink stones out there. I can see the attraction of a fancy diamond, but the price ? Sheeeeesh, no.

Dave----------------

Don't care much about the true yellows, Dave, but I do like the 'odd' toned peach-orange tones, grays, and even some of the orangy browns. Not wild either, about the pinks or purples. Some blues are ok though!
