Ok, so like a true budget bride, I bought my dress. A straight, strapless, sample number that fits perfectly...granted I stay my current size. Well lately, out of stress from work and saving, my appetite has gone up. I''ve gained some weight...not alot, but enough to make me send this post.

SO you probably say, well join a gym and go...I''m already a member.

I need someone to inspire me...I''m rather competitive so that helps.

Ok this is sad, but all I want to do is lose 10lbs by my wedding(I don''t want to post the date cuz you''ll think I''m a loser, but if you search my other posts you''ll find it)

Any takers?

I''m just looking for someone to just keep me on track on a weekly basis. Thanks

budgetbride, you should join our weekly workout thread over in family, home and health....

there is a group of us that are pretty darn motivated, we work out multiple times a week, share recipes, health tips, suggestions, advice etc.

a few of us just did this '5 day detox' thing where you just eat nuts, fruits, veggies, and brown grains for 5 days. it was interesting...no meat, no dairy etc but i felt good the whole time.

thanks, oh yeah, I tried that detox thing...I only made it for 24hours...I got hungry

Ditto Mara. BB even if you just join the WWT you would be surprised at how we motivate each other and have fun comparing notes and tips! You can do the diet and exercise the way that suits you, it really keeps body maintenance fun and interesting. Plus, you don''t feel so alone with it, knowing that your workout buds are doing the same thing.

You know, I have found that you can get your appetite to go back down a little thought this method: if you get a craving for a certain "bad" food, you should just go ahead and indulge in a little bit of it. That usually satisfies you and keeps you from overeating later.

Also, tho help with appetite, drink lots of water (or water with Crystal Light--I recomend the Raspberry Lemondae, yum!) because a lot of times when you think you are hungry, you are really just thirsty. Plus drinking a lot of water with meals fills you up faster.

While I''m on the subject of water, give up all drinks that aren''t water. I seriously believe that you can eat whatever you want if you cut out all softdrinks. I have friends who get 5 or 6 drink refils in one sitting at a restraunt, and that starts to add up to more calories than the meal itself! I gave up soft drinks (even diet ones) several years ago in college (for lint) and never started drinking them again. It was the only dietary change I made, and I shed an entire dress size just from that. Now it''s either Crystal light or water for me! (and about once every few months I spoil myself with a sprite or a glass of sweet tea)

Anyway, that was longer than I intended it to be. I recomend the workout thread too! It is fab!

I did a 12-day Detox with a limited diet. The tricky thing was that for the first few days, while my body was adjusting to the change, I was hungry all the time because I wasn't getting the foods my body was used to. Make sure you pick a detox that has a sustainable diet that goes with it, where you can eat all you want of the 'recommended' foods, providing you stay within the ratios they state.

actually i wasn't hungry at all on this detox thing....it was not a portion control kinda thing really...it was more to cleanse your body. the idea isn't really to lose weight or be hungry, but just cut out things that could be really bad for you and only eat fresh, natural, non-processed items.

i found it was easy to eat a bunch of fruit and veggies and similar and still stay well under my caloric intake for the day because meat and dairy has a ton of calories!! so i could have 2 servings of a vegeterian dinner and eat less calories than 1 serving of a dinner with even lean chicken or meat in it. my body also worked on processing the non-meat meals much quicker which was interesting as well, so it's easier on my body to not eat meats. not that it means i'm going veggie or anything...hehe.

but i ate a ton of fruit and granola and stuff so i wasn't hungry. i also worked out 4 days out of the 5 days, burning about 300-400 calories per day, and i was fine with my workouts and burning calories, wasn't hungry, didn't feel dizzy, nothing. i felt pretty much the same levels of energy during my workouts as regular weeks. i found some good vegan recipes online (no meat, no dairy) and greg loved some of them which was kind of funny. so we are going to do the detox thing probably one week a month just because it seemed okay for us, and it was interesting to really make a conscious decision to not eat meat for even just a few days a month. last nite we went out and had a big burger to celebrate it being over though...haha.
