why are old old posts all locked up???

i am curious why many of the old posts are locked up?

in other tech/geek forums that i am part of, if a new thread was started that had a question asked before, people would flame the OP till he died ....

i dont want to keep opening new threads about newbie questions i have
however i notice i cannot reply to old threads

i was curious as to why the old threads are locked up.

(at least in other forum sites, locking a thread is usually because the thread has gone bananas and ballistic and are mean spirited)

Threads get locked around here after 2 months of inactivity; although upon request, the moderators will gladly *open* one back up.

Hi, Mark- I just wanted to add my welcome to Lynn's. I like your question and your posting style. (You wrote from a self-aware position, saying that you were new to this forum and knowing the implications that being new somewhere can have for someone.) I think you are going to be a great addition to Pricescope!
