Will He or Won''t He....How to stop obsessing....

Hi Ladies....here''s my story....
My BF and I had picked out our date last spring. In June, after a party, in the spur of the moment, he asked me to marry him on that date. It wasn''t quite the proposal I had hoped and dreamed of, not to mention there was no ring. You see, my ex never proposed either, so this was something that meant a lot to me. My BF agreed it was not the way he wanted to ask me and vowed to do it again, the "right" way. Fast forward 7 months............we finally decided on the "perfect" ring....a Natalie K design. We have a gemologist friend helping in the purchase. She went to purchase the setting for us. I called her afterwards and asked her a bazillion questions. She wouldn''t tell me a thing, except she finally said, "You''ll be very happy." Next up she is going to the Tuscon show to find the diamond for us.....all is good and well. Until last weekend.......... She tells us that the setting had junky stones and she wanted to upgrade. She also says she will be unable to find the diamond within our budget (she is hoping to exceed our expectations) and wants to wait til she can get to an auction to find an awesome diamond at a great price. I''m ok with all this. Now..here''s the obsessing part..........Are they trying to throw me off track? We are going on a romantic vacation to Mexico over Valentine''s Day..the setting is PERFECT, private casitas perched in a cliff overlooking the sunset while sipping margaritas in the hammocks...

........she did originally say "You''ll be very happy" after supposedly getting the setting, then later says the side stones were junk and needed upgrading......plus she had originally told us she could get the best price at the show for the diamond, and now says she can''t..... add to the fact my BF told me when he was first married, he told his jeweler that if his GF called to tell her it would take an extra week or two to throw her off track....If this does not happen over Vday, I am prepared...but I am soooo hoping it does........

If I had to venture a guess, I would say they''re trying to throw you off. At least, that''s what I would think if I was in your shoes. And the vacation sounds like a proposal waiting to happen. Just try not to get too ahead of yourself in case its not the case.

I won''t be too disappointed...after all, I finally found the man of my dreams and if it took me this long to find him, I can wait for the perfect ring too. Maybe I should go exercise instead or something

LOL. If it helps, I am waiting on the man of my dreams, too. He said he''d get my ring within 6 months, so we started looking at rings together. Of course, his 6 months is more like 1 month. I''m kind of hoping he''ll pop the question on Valentine''s Day, but I''m trying not to think about it too much. Though waiting will drive me crazy.

The waiting is driving me crazy too! I mean, he DID ask me last June...I''ve been pretty patient, wouldn''t ya think? It seems all backwards......setting the date, picking out the ring..then the official proposal......
It''s awkward teling someone I am engaged cause the first thing they do is look down at my finger.....so I told him it is not official till the ring is on my finger. Thanks for letting me vent....

I think he''s definitely going to propose.

I find it hard to believe that stones in the setting would be such poor quality she has to start over. And her comment that "you''ll be very happy" leads me to believe that there''s more progress than she and your BF/fiance is letting on. Sounds like she''s trying to throw you off the track. So I''d pack a bunch of beautiful resort wear for your Mexico vacation and get a nice manicure before you go!

And make sure you bring lots of film or memory for your camera!

Where in Mexico, do you mind me asking?

We are going to Manzanillo, staying at Pepe''s Hideaway. Got excellent reviews on tripadvisor.com (www.pepeshideaway.com)
Even if it doesn''t happen then, it''ll still be a great vacation......like they say, a bad day on vacation still beats a good day at work! (or something like that)

One thing that keeps floating through my head is that after she went to get the setting, she said I''ll be very happy, then 2 weeks later says the side stones were inferior. Does anyone know the quality of the side stones in Natalie K rings?

I think he''s throwing you off in a last ditch effort to surprise you - although he never should have mentioned to you that when he proposed the first time, he did the same thing. Now you''re keen to his plan and you''ll be able to have everything manicured and waxed prior to your trip to Mexico.

Haha, I''d already planned on a pre-Vday manicure just in case, too. I guess even if he doesn''t pop the question, I''ll still have nice nails!

After Vday, we can all start a thread complaining that we still don''t have our rings.

Me too!! I think it might be getting close though! Maybe not V-day, but he''s been asking a lot of questions. I e-mailed him the ring I want and he asked me if I was completely positive if that''s the one I want and last night he caught me looking at some of the rings here and said "Please, say you didn''t change your mind again." And the way he said it and has been acting, I think he''s getting ready!

Maybe on V-Day we can start a thread saying we are engaged!

I'm rooting for ya Chick! I too looked at literally thousands of designs till I settled on the one I kept going back to. Funny thing, I still love to keep looking. I sure hope we can start a new thread about our proposals very soon....that would be so cool. I am just so tired of being patient!

Well, I''m thoroughly bummed.

Couldn''t stand it any longer so I asked my BF if he was in cahoots with our gemologist friend and he looked me in the eye and said no. I called her...she''s still in Tucson at the show and she said no too. Guess I will have to wait to have this ring made.........at least it''s in the works. I guess it''s better to be bummed now then to be bummed while on vacation. On a good note, I hear the weather in Mexico where we are going is AWESOME!!!

He's such an awesome guy..it's ok..maybe I'll just start wearing the fake $2 ring I bought my daughter for dress-up! LOL!! he did admit to a Vday plan.....oh well, there will be another day.....
Hey, at least we WILL be celebrating something...his ex gets married while we will be on vacation....NO MORE ALIMONY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
