Hi!
I’m new here and would like your help urgently, thank you.
this diamond scored 1 with ex ex ex ex on HCA score. Gia 3 Ex. Attached is the ASET image. I am not paying premium for the ideal hearts and arrows so it is ok if it is not perfectly symmetric, but I would definitely like to see clear 8 arrows once it is set on a ring.
Do you think this will make me happy or will I regret it?

Yes, but I can’t attach a video for some reason. Can you tell something from the ASET image? I attach a screenshot from the video if it helps. 80D7F5E8-A50E-4849-A288-E9B334DC867A.jpeg

How big is the stone?
Under a half carat or so it's nearly impossible to see the arrows no matter how the stone is cut, just because the facets are so small.
Over a carat I would say in favourable lighting you will definitely see the arrows in this stone face-up.
Lighting is key, though - the arrows aren't visible in any stone, H&A or non, unless the stone is oriented just so relative to light source.

Thank you. It is 1.84 carats.

What is the best light condition to see the arrows in the daily environments?

any lighting wherein the stone is backlit. hold your hand up in front of an open window (so that the plane of the table of the diamond is parallel to the window glass) and you'll see arrows. move your hand so the plane of the table is parallel to the floor and the arrows won't be black anymore.

What were the scores on Light Return, Fire, Scintillation and Spread?

Thank you. You mean so that the light comes through the window and lit the diamond from the back side, I. E. From the bottom (pavilion) of the diamond? Will I see them even after the diamond is mounted to the ring?

Thank you. They were all excellent and the score was 1, excellent within TIC range.

It’s ok. It might be a little leaky. what is the return policy? It might be worth looking at in person

Thank you. I’ll be able to view the diamond in person before making the decision. Any advise on what to focus on evaluating when viewing the diamond?

I look at my stones under different lighting and I go with what my eyes like. I'm not an expert.

Go all over the store. By a window, under the desk, dark room, well lit room, outside if they let you, etc, various lighting conditions…

yup

and yup

I also think you should view about 3 diamonds if you can so you can compare it to others…

my jeweller ordered in a stone with the similar specs prior to this one. That stone actually scored very badly on HCA, although it looked quite nice I just could not justify the investment on that piece. So I asked them to order another one, this time I made sure that it scores well on HCA and to get an ASET image before hand. However I still got nervous if this was the right choice...

justify the investment

What’s your plan for this stone? Do you intend to keep it or resell? Does your jeweler have an upgrade policy?

I have cancelled the first stone that had a bad HCA (5.5). The new one, with the HCA score 1, I will have a look at it today and will then decide. :)

I upgraded my stone from a 3.33 I/SI2 (eye clean) ~9.75 x 9.81 ~ HCA 0.8 (all categories Excellent) to a better cut 3.38 G/VS2 ~ 9.73 x 9.76 ~ HCA 1.0 (all categories Excellent)...

Neither were super ideals... both were great. I mainly did it to get a better cut and higher color/clarity. Size is indistinguishable, but I know that upgrading the other things made a huge impact. Point being, you don't have to have a super ideal or even "perfectly ideal" cut to have a bangin' rock!

Thank you. I fully understand what you mean. I was not looking for a perfectly ideal cut but something better than the average 3Ex :) that would make me feel happy every time I look at the ring.

Like @msop04 I also have an unbranded H&A RB that I’m very happy with :))

Thank you so much everyone who has posted your comments here for me. It was indeed helpful. Today I saw the stone in person with my husband ( it is not an upgrade but is going to be a second engagement ring from him) , we both liked it a lot and confidently decided to go for this one. I attach a screenshot of the video we took onsite.
