So my brother is getting married this August-YAY-to his childhood sweetheart. I''ve known her for going on 20 years now, so she''s the closest thing I have to a sister at this point. I''m a BM in their wedding and her shower is coming up soon. They own a house with really nice stuff in it, but nothing really heirloom quality. They only registered for the bare minimum because they''re hoping for $ to put towards their honeymoon. I want to get her something special that she can hand down to their kids. Of course I''m planning my own wedding right now as well as contributing as a BM to theirs so cost is a huge factor.

I was thinking about some T&Co crystal (candlesticks most likely). There are a ton of really nice ones on Ebay (I''m shameless, I know) but the ones that I''m looking at don''t come with a box. I plan to take them to the store to be authenticated, but do you think the store would provide a gift box for me?

Any other "special" gift ideas? We''re not really photo people so albums/scrapbooks are not being considered.

If you tell them that you are passing along an heirloom they might. That''s one of those gray areas fibs since they probably WILL be an heirloom. It''s an idea if you''re comfy with that.

Hi Hudson Hawk,
Sorry to interupt this post, but I have some questions about your engagement ring.
I saw the photos of it and it is absolutley beautiful.
I am in the process of designing my engagement ring at the moment and it is also an oval.
I really love your design. Could you please tell me a bit more about it eg. how many little diamonds there are in total and what the weight, colour and clarity they are?
Also i love how your band is three sided, a couple of questions about that, i love how yours is still petite and doesnt have a really think white gold edging on the corners of the band, what is that called how they did that?
Also is there a gap between your diamond and the halo?

Thanks, hope you can help
Regards,

kris

HH, you should call Tiffany''s and ask them. Though, FYI, Tiffany''s has candlesticks that are about $50 or so...One thing we did this holiday season, was to purchase two coffee mugs from Tiffany''s Holiday China collection. They''re gorgeous and festive and we decided that we''ll add to them as the years go on. That''s also a nice starter to something long lasting and heirloomy. IIRC, the mugs were about $100/set and they came in a lovely box, which they live in during the off season.

Tiffany''s doesn''t like to give out their packaging because they don''t want anyone to put counterfeit stuff inside and pass it off as authentic. But its also up to the salesperson''s descretion. They are not supposed to do it but you never know what you can talk them into.

Surfgirl is right, there are some candlesticks that start at $50 each. Actually the bowls and glasses are not all that expensive. Just a thought in case the Ebay plan doesn''t work out.
