Hello! I can''t seem to find the kind of window treatment I am looking for online, so I might have to go the custom route, but I just thought I would see if any of you would know a place to look for them first. My window is in my kitchen and is 73 inches wide. The room is open to the living room where I have Pottery Barn silk curtains up on the french doors in a neutral tan color. I was looking for something to coordinate with that in a silk fabric and just a top treatment. My table in the kitchen is black and the counters are a golden color granite, so I would like to stay in the black and gold colors. Anyone know of any sites to go to? Thanks:)

Steph do you happen to have a picture? My neighbor has beautiful window treatments from this company but I have never purchased from them but they send free samples of the material. http://www.smithandnoble.com/sn/home.jsp Also, a few friends have had good luck with JCPenny's.

DH and I just purchased new window treatments from JCPenney. We checked around and found what we wanted there...and the price could not be beat!

Do you mean a valance? Or a roman shade? Or cornice? Do you sew? Boy, that''s a lot of questions!

Making a valance is a pretty easy project.

Hey, Skippy! Checked out smith & noble and LOVED their stuff, but when I put in what I wanted, which was pretty basic with no extras, it was over $500 for 1 window! I''m just too practical and I also like to change colors around too much to invest in that, but thank you for the suggestion...I had fun designing it until I saw the price! I will check out JCPennys and see what they have.

Thank you for the suggestion, I think I will stop by there when I go to the mall this week. It would be great if I could find something there that isn''t too expensive.

Miranda, I like all those styles so I''m not really sure which one I''ll end up getting. I should just check into making it, but I have a fear of sewing since I took a class in high school and the teacher told me to never sew again!!!

Skippy, do you mean a pic of the kitchen area where the window is? If so I will go take one...

Cool, so we can help come up with colors or textures.
eta: eek, $500 is nuts! Sorry, I didn't see the prices. I would try making something like I did if you can a super easy one maybe? It was fun for me to make mine.

OH! Goodie!!!!

I love these types of threads. It is so fun to see other peoples style and get ideas for decorating!

Sorry I can''t add anything constructive- but I am over the pond and do not have any of the shops you have

Okay, here is a really quick pic I just took of the breakfast nook area....

The window measures 73 inches, which is way bigger than standard sizes, so I might have to go custom. Everything in that area is black or gold and neutrals...

Steph did you see this http://www.hgtv.com/home-improvement/six-tips-for-great-window-treatments/index.html
I think a Roman shade would look nice. Let's see if I can find one. Or a honeycomb shade and then a valance up top? Do you have a Joann's? The have some easy no sew valances and or sometimes they have Cornice kits at Home Depot? http://www.doityourself.com/scat/windowtreatments

eta: this would be pretty in Red http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=60442&CatID=60442&Grptyp=STY&ItemId=14e40ac&cmRef=http://www.jcpenney.com/products/C028538.jsp

these are made to order http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/ProductsHOM.aspx?ItemID=13caa3b&GrpTyp=ENS&CmCatId=crosssell

oooh, Skippy...those last ones from JCPenny are perfect and so inexpensive for that big of a window! I think that might be the one. I am going to go try to see them in person tomorrow. Yea, I am so excited! Great find!

Steph - Just wanted to second the roman shade idea. We have roman shades in our bedroom and I LOVE them - they''d be perfect in your dining nook.

Heading up to the mall now to see if I can check them out in person. Thanks, guys!

Ok, so i headed up to JCpenny today to check them out in person and fell in love with ones they had in their custom section. They are alot more than I wanted to pay, but soooo pretty. I just have to come back and remeasure my window before I call to order b/c I couldn''t remember if I measured the inside or outside of the window. They are going to take several weeks to make, but I will post pics when I get them back. Thanks again guys!

Soooo, a little update. I was all set to order the $300 window treatments but I stopped by Lowes to look at knobs for our kitchen cabinets and saw their window treatments. I saw a huge collection and found some I really like for $20 each!!! I was so excited. They are the perfect color and are shaped really cute and even have a decorative edging and a tassle on the ends..so cute! I have attached a picture, but it''s not very good. I think there was too much light coming in. I will try to take another one tonight when the sun goes down. Thanks again for all the suggestions!

Thank you. They look a lot better in person. I will have to try to take a picture when the sun is not shining in so much.
