Hello all ! I've been cruzing through the pricescope forums for a couple of months after stumbling onto it a couple of months ago.
After reading reviews of Brian Gavin rings I decided to make the trip down to Houston to see some of his stones for myself. (Houston is only about 1.5 hrs south of where I live.)

I've been researching diamonds for a couple of months now and due to just graduating from college in May I was on a very tight budget (7k-8k). I was dead set on a round 1.2-1.3 ct stone. Brian recommended I take a look at a 1.256 J color VS1 Ags000 with very strong blue flourescence that he had..... However I was very hesitant to drop down to a J color but due to the ever increasing diamonds prices I was left with few options.

Upon meeting Brian I was amazed at how friendly he was and his passion for diamonds! I bet I was in his office for 2hours and he didnt even know if I would end up purchasing this diamond. Needless to say I fell in love with it at 1st sight. I loveee his line of blues and could hardly detect any yellowish tint in the J color ring. Brian does not market his Blue diamonds as hearts and arrows but upon further inspection my 1.25 had beautiful both hearts and arrows. The BLUES offer an OUTSTANDING value in my own opinion.

I ended up buying the ring and just recieved it at work today :). I decided to set it an a yellow gold 6 prong because my girlfriend and I both love the classic look. My plan is to pop the question while she and my whole family are on vacation in Germay 2 weeks from now and totally catch her by suprise !!!. I will keep everyone posted and thank you all for providing such valuable informantion on this forum.

P.s. I took these pictures at work on my phone so sorry for the poor quality . Her hand shots are sure to come in the near future

Thanks for sharing this. Last week I purchased a BGD Blue but didn't have the opportunity to view it in person (I'm in SC). I was somewhat hesitant at first, but everyone on here told me that the Blues are beautiful and not to worry. Well, yours looks great! Now I can't wait to get mine (or soon to be hers) in the mail in about three weeks...

Yay!!! I have a 1.2 carat BGD blue too.

Interesting how the first picture you can see the blue tint but in the second picture you can detect it. Was the first picture taken in the shadow? I don't see blue tints in my diamond because it's only medium fluor.

Congratulations! Beautiful choice! I love the blue glow in the daylight!

Thanks for the story about Brian Gavin. It's good to hear personal experiences with on line vendors.

Enjoy it!

Good choice.

I too was going to get a J with strong blue florescence at first but changed at the last minute.

The stone looks great! I'm sure she will like it. The yellow gold is also very classic and has synergy with the simple band and the slight warmness of J.

Congratulations! Let us know how things go.

it looks beautiful!!!

It's gorgeous! I love the Blues! I bet she's going to be blown away!

It is beautiful! Two bits of advice. Be sure it is insured before that trip. And read some advice on the forums about travelling with a diamond without her seeing it (as in you may be asked to empty pockets in airports).

Thanks for the post! I love hearing about peoples good experiences! The ring is beautiful- hopscotch with the proposal and enjoy your time in Germany.

Congrats, and good luck with the proposal

Thanks you all for the nice compliments !!

OC Girl ---- I believe the picture that shows the blue tint was taken under direct sunlight and the one with out was slightly shadowed. Not to sure but it is crazy the difference in the 2 : )

Diamondseeker--- I have gotten it insured through touchstone and I'm still working on how to sneek it over there. Thinking about getting my mother to carry it somehow. I am unable to locate any forums over this. I would greatly appreciate it if you happen to know any links you can direct me towards.
