has a wedding date and venue confirmed before I am officially engaged? My sister did the same thing when she got married so perhaps it runs in my family

I know it''s a bit odd, but we heard how people book venues years in advance and didn''t want to miss out on the date and venue. BTW - I can only admit this to you ladies..!

no i am sure that a lot of other ladies have done that. I dont know if it is a good idea for certain people. Once you get engaged your emotions could really change how you feel. You could want one venue and then when you get engaged you could realize how real it is all becoming and change your mind. Just make sure it is what the both of you want. Tastes and opinions change all of the time so just be careful. Be sure that is what you will want in 5 months, 1 year, however long you wait to be engaged. Good Luck!

Thanks...You make very good points, but I am certain that we will love this place as much in the future. It''s just a very odd feeling that I have a wedding date, but I am not officially engaged! Now FI knows that the clock is truly ticking

I''m yet to be proposed to (though I have an idea of when it will happen) but I have a file with Ideas for wedding dresses, BM dresses and I know without a doubt what my Flower girl dresses will look like I would probably have a venue picked as well if I could find one I liked

Wow, that''s proactive! I''m not engaged yet (BF said by Thanksgiving), but I have thought a lot about venues for a cocktail reception; we have talked about just going to the courthouse and having a party afterward since we have both been married before and don''t want to do a big wedding. I don''t know that I could pick a date, though! There''s so much going on with our schedules that I''m not looking forward to that part - I''ll probably leave the date up to him!
