We are engaged! #27 SIGNING OFF!

I can''t even describe how I feel!

Ladies, all the psyching up for the big day can''t prepare you for this! Tonight I am the happiest girl in London

. There is something so wholesome and right about the whole thing (I know that must sound kinda weird, but they are the only words sprining to mind).

I''ve waited for just over a year for him to ask (he had the stone all that time, naughty guy that he is), and we''ve been together 7 years, so it''s long time coming. For all you ladies in long relationships, persevere! The day will come, and you''ll feel amazing, and the wait will be so worth it!

I can''t stop looking at my hand and I can''t believe I will never call him ''boyfriend'' again. Anyhow, sorry for my excited ramblings. Story and pics to come tomorrow as it''s kinda late.

What a weekend!

Dinamit.

congratulations!!!

Congratulations Dinamit!

You must be thrilled!
I bet your engagement will still take a few weeks to fully sink in.
7 years is a long time - it must feel so right.

Congratulations!!!! This was a good weekend for those of us in the 20s!!! Can''t wait to see pictures!!!

Thank you so much everyone, story and pics to come as soon as I have a moment to do it properly (and I find the cable for my Blackberry so I can upload the ring pics)

You are right HopeDream, I can already feel that it will take a week or so for it to start feeling real, although we already began brainstorming the wedding. It will probably be a year from now, somewhere on a sandy beach...

Vc10um, many congrats to you! I replied to your threads; not only did we both get engaged this weekend having reached the #20s on the list, but we have very similar size stones - mine is a .95. I love your ring, did you have any input or was it a total surprise? Pls forgive me for not knowing, I haven't logged on for a cpl of months as I've been crazy busy.

Dinamit.

We ARE diamond twins! Congratulations again! I did have help choosing the ring...I fell in love with this setting the first time I saw it, and while I tried on several others, my FI and I decided that this was the setting. As for the stone, I gave him specs, and Claritek actually ended up finding the perfect stone on Blue Nile. He bought it, inspected it, decided he liked it, the jeweler set it, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Congrats!!!!!!!!!

congrats!!! story and pictures please!!!

I want to see pictures!! CONGRATS! Are you going to tell us the story??

Also, In reference to the quote above... never say never. When ever my dad asks my mom has he asks his "girlfriend". It is adorable, here they are, with two fully grown children, and he''ll call and ask to speak with his loving girlfriend and she''ll say speaking and then he''ll ask her out on the town. Cutest thing I have ever seen. She''ll spend almost an hour getting ready and he''ll pick her up at the house (after work) and off they go.

Ah, loving marriages to use as inspiration for all my days. Gotta love the parents.

Sorry for the delay folks. It turns out the Blackberry pics didn't come out so great

, and the little temporary camera we have at the mo just won't take decent enough pics. Promise to post a couple of proposal eve pics and the story asap. Not sure what to do about taking nice ring pics in the meantime...

HaloLove, what you said about your parents is absolutely adorable - how lucky and privileged you are to have them as rolemodels for marriage. My SO and I both come from broken marriages, so we are finding our way by feeling (and trial and error

I think I can finally upload some pics, so here goes the story at last. Sorry it took me so long to get to it.

Some background info first. Please forgive me if it's too long, don't feel you have to read it all. As I mentioned previously, SO and I have been together more than 7 years. We even have a child together, a beautiful 19-month old boy. So this engagement has been long time coming. My Fi (hihihi!) has had the stone for about a year, but didn't set it until a couple of months ago. He had some devastating family news, which didn't leave him in the mood to celebrate anything, and we faced various other challenges over the past year. Needless to say, despite trying my best to be understanding, I had a number of meltdowns and was plain angry at times. I couldn't understand why he was making me wait soooo long. After a while, when I realised that I would probably go nuts, I focused on everything else I wanted to do and achieve - and bam! The proposal finally arrived!

I had a strong suspicion that Fi was going to propose about 6 weeks ago. It was the weekend, and he kept insisting we go for a picnic to this famous beauty spot in London. However, my brother just turned up from Stockholm and I had a horrible eye infection, so I wasn't in the mood. It wouldn't have exactly made very nice engagement pics!

Nothing happened since, apart from that we had my other brother and nieces visiting from the US, my FI's sister staying with us too, me getting a new job, and passing a test. All in all, busy! Last Sunday, Fi suggested we hit the town to celebrate me getting the job, him securing more work (he works freelance in television) etc. Again, I had a strong suspicion, as he said he wanted us to go to a really nice restaurant and told me to dress smart. In the end, we decided to go to Cafe Boheme, a really nice French place in London's Soho, which is a bit of a favourite. We went there many times while we were dating, and the first Valentine's after our son was born. It's also in the area where we used to hang out a lot before we became parents. So we set off, and I was happy and relaxed that it will be just the two of us.

We got to the restaurant, which had a great atmosphere as a 'Buena Vista Club' type band was playing. We ordered some wine and gorgeous food, and just chatted away enjoying each other's company. The restaurant has a bar and a World Cup match was on. FI loves football so he got up briefly to check the score (there is a reason I am saying this). We don't go out that much anymore, so we were both enjoying ourselves and having a really good time. I felt so relaxed and the proposal didn't even cross my mind. After we ordered the desserts, FI disappeared without saying anything, (which was strange) and I thought he went to check the scores again, but he was gone a while. I couldn't see him anywhere, so I was catching up on my texts etc.

The next thing I now, he is next to me, on one knee and with the most loving smile on his face. Even though I know what was coming, I was confused! It took a few moments for it to sink in. He took my hand and said my name followed by "will you do me the HUGE honour of becoming my wife?" I will never forget the look in his eyes and how tenderly he spoke my name. It took me another couple of moments before I answered "Of course! I mean 'yes!'. What followed was some tearful kissing, and the restaurant manager appearing with a couple of glasses of champagne, all the while jumping up and down and saying "so exciting!".

It was lovely, public and private at the same time. But ultimately, special because of the tenderness, sincerity and love that flooded the moment. He later said that he had this elaborate plan to propose 6 weeks ago at Primrose Hill (a stunningly beautiful view spot in London), and had arranged for his best friend to hide in the bushes at the bottom of the hill and set off fireworks after the 'yes', but that plan got ruined by my brother's arrival. Once I told friends that we are engaged, it turned out everyone knew he was about to do it for a couple of months, and they were just waiting for the news. FI was waiting cos he wanted to make the occasion spectacular, and in the end realised that this isn't the most important thing.

Anyway, sorry for being sooooo longwinded and thanks for reading. The reward? The long awaited ring pics! Engagement pics to follow.

Enjoy!

Dinamit

The ring is stunning

Specs??

Thanks holly_sparkle! I sympathise, as I know how hard it is to be at that stage in the relationship and still be waiting for a proposal. The upshot is that now that he proposed, FI is totally into wedding talk. He is ripe and ready

.

The specs:

0.95ct F SI2 (eyeclean)
GIA VG/VG/VG with an HCA score of 1! It scored 'excellent' in all 4 categories, and seriously lives up to this in real life.

It has a slightly shallower crown, so it is very brilliant and bright, but at the same time full of fire and scintillation. I seriously love this stone! In fact, I prefer it to my ACA - it's just brighter and more dimensional.
